I just felt like doing a "I'm now on a list, thanks" joke.
Edit: I'd also like to mention that it was March 31 (at least for me) when this news was released, and I felt disappointed cause they couldn't even wait for the proper day to do it.
But how would it actually work?
It's not hard to add a visual novel element as side content for the game honestly, and the sheer amount and quality of VNs posted on steam make me thing it's also not that hard to do.
It's not hard to make a VN, but the aspect of integrating it into the game itself in a meaningful way. Do you walk up to boss and have the option of talking it out instead? Do you get a VN mode upon beating the game that just skips the parts of her roaming to the next boss? How exactly do you do this?
I never said it would be integrated into the game itself, it would be more if an extra for it.
While I would love to see a game where you get the choice between killing or converting a boss (like Warframe, but actually worth it), I don't think this is the game where I'm going to have that. It would be a cool concept for a Souls maybe, where you either kill the boss and get a soul to make a cool weapon, or convert them into your ally to fight by your side until they die (So you would have to take care of them as as much as they do with you).
You might not have said it, but they certainly implied it in their april 1st gag.
I know the first souls-like game has the kill to make a weapon, but sparing can also help with the weapon. It's called "Monster Hunter," creative title, i know, but that's what Capcom is known for.
I've seen a few games get close to ideas like that, but with perma-death of your new minion in mind, you'd be better off killing instead, unless weapons broke. If you don't mind it not being a souls-like, the best shot you have of testing this mechanic would be something like a skyrim mod.
