About the Ending [SPOILERS]
So, are we the Alien?

No idea what kind of story arc you were going for but it got super dark at the very end.

Also I really wanted to answer her calls but clearly that's not possible in this little experiment.

Anyways, this was a fine idea overall.

Hiya! I really want to answer this all but a big paragraphe but I’m thinking, maybe I want to see what other players thought and if anyone got the story right :D if left a couple hints about what / how it happened.

Short answer : yes you are the alien. That has definitely something to do with the fact you’re not able to answer her calls.

Also, would you mind changing the title? For something like « about the ending?! » or idk. But it’s the plot twist and really like what the entire game is based on so spoiling it to future player just hover over the discussions topic is too bad :(

Don't worry, I fixed it

Spoiler alert:

It was awesome. :)

By the way, Is the alien (the player) part of the hostile invasion?
Most apparently, yes.

but the another question is why does the alien follow what the woman asks to do over the phone (except answering the messages due to language barrier).
Simply because the alien is bored or feel like trolling? or maybe he/she/it is a separatist and wants to help the earthlings, or it is entirely different alien species who is not part of the invasion.

About the fate of Zach;
Zach is the player and he morphed into the alien (some kinds of anomaly).
Zach was killed by the alien.
Zach is not dead and he is upstairs.

There is so much potential for more interesting stories in the future games.

I kind of assumed that aliens had infiltrated society and had been planning an attack for a while, and were now starting their attack, but that wouldnt explain why Zack doesnt answer the phone, as he would probably still talk in person. However, one of the signs seams to imply that Zach is a serious introvert and possibly has a fear of talking on the phone, which opens the possibility that the aliens have taken the memory or people and become them, only now recalling their true self, or took on a sort of character when they took a human form.

I assume aliens had been around for a while, because it makes no sense for Zack to have been replaced by an alien recently, and that alien go about Zachs normal life for a day, rather than just beginning their attack, unless they wanted to learn about human culture, or this is an alien that has gone rouge or something, which makes little sense and is not at all hinted at.

I think the most likely scenario is that aliens had infiltrated society awhile ago (anywhere from 20 to 1 year ago) with intent of a hostile take over. They took on the life of ordinary people, either people with a pre-existing life, or a new person of their own design. Only recently have they started their attack, first with fires, now with attacks on civilians. The police are trying to get people out of the town using shuttles, and the aliens see this, and go outside to observe, some even escaping penitentiaries. They begin to morph over the next couple of hours and attack the shuttle, killing some of the people on board. As the girl on the phone, who has managed to escape the shuttle, makes it home, Zach has morphed into his alien form, prepared to attack her on entry, be it with his gun or claws.

However, the line:

Makes me think that this is wrong, as the fact Zach cant answer the phone has nothing to do with the fact hes an alien, but but to him being an extreme introvert, and the alien taking on that trait.

This is all great... But... Allow me to give my take on all of this.

Zach went totally insane and killed his wife.
Things I noticed...

1. Zach seemed to believe in Aliens, Hypnosis, etc.
2. Zach is sleeping on the couch (Something that happens when couples fight.)
3. I noticed a male wedding band on the table.
4. I saw the amount of debt they were in. Something like over a million dollars.
5. The gun.
6. The poster "Bang Bang my baby shot me down".
7. Some of the newspaper article repeated themselves over and over again about buying red
shoes. (Not saying this is why he killed her but... Damn... Why do women need so many
shoes?) I have just two pairs. One for work and the other to go out... Anyway...
8. The phone calls weren't real. Just Zach's mind completely going. A way to deal with what
he had done, maybe. Although he had a fear of phones (like me) he couldn't answer because there was no one to answer.

I think Zach had lost the plot and killed his wife and the ending sequence was the Police at the door, probably with the gun still in his hand.
Never a good way to answer the door to Police. :D

This was just my view on it all.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Spend it while you have it, cos you can't take it with you...
But while you're here you need it, so save it. :D

Great game.

I like your interpretation, it makes more sense then the literal approach. Why would the alien bother locking the windows?
Lone Starr Aug 22, 2019 @ 6:24pm
Hi, Eremeir.

Exactly. HAHAHA!!
I'm glad that you like my interpretation... As dark as it is. :D

This is a PERFECT explanation. Realistic and much darker than the "invasion".

This would also explain the lost time, and even breaking the fourth wall by advancing the plot by advancing the clock. "THAT'S NOT HOW TIME WORKS!" 🤣
Taro Acedia Aug 27, 2019 @ 1:32pm
What I noticed:

He morphed into an alien, the script on the shelf is called "The Morphing." The newspaper had an article about aliens with a "Slowly they morph" note. What also counts for this theory is the other report about a patient jumping on cars. The aliens at the end did that too.

What doesn't make sense here are the references on finance. There are bills all over the place, and texts like "We are on a budget" and so on.
Lone Starr Aug 29, 2019 @ 1:21pm
Hi, Taro.

The thought I had about all of the "Morphing" references was this...
As I already mentioned he seemed to be into Aliens, hypnosis, etc.
So... Could it be that he was morphing into a monster, metaphorically?
He just so happened to believe he had become an Alien
I also noticed a piece of paper on a plate. I thought about what was written on it.
"You're a monster :("
Of course this could just be that his wife was unhappy about not getting any cake.
If she did indeed write this. Or was it a note to himself for taking the cake. HAHA.

Like you say though. I'm not sure where the "patients" jumping on cars comes into all of this...
(why patients?)
Unless... Zach, at some time had spent time in an institute for the mentally insane, there had been an escape attempt, and his mind was bringing all of this back to him.
He was afraid of phones (Like me) but even when he could hear it was his wife?
He also never seemed to leave the house. This is also strange because of all the photos of them in various countries.

I could think about this forever.
My ending thoughts. :D
Everything was great, they went on holidays to far off countries. Maybe started spending too much money. Things started getting bad. Zach had a mental breakdown. Maybe spent time in an institute where an escape attempt was made. He comes back home, after some time. Things still get worse with bills, etc. SNAP!!

Got to stop thinking now, my brain is boiling and I have the hand of an Alien.

I quickly got under the impression that Zack has got some kind of mental illness. I would have guess maybe a deep depression that kept him from going out of the house, but all the post it and mess seem to indicate that he's not able to take care of himself and tends to forget about day to day life things.

I think he's afraid when his girlfriend leaves the house, but she has to from time to time, and when Zack is alone for too long, he starts to make up suff that is preventing her from coming back to him, and the longer it takes the most his brain starts imaginating terrible stuff.

So my best guess is that he is schezofrenic and paranoid. It has develpped over the years (the photos of friends and vacation indicate that he used to have a normal life) and is less and less able to take care of himself. His girlfriend call regulary and leaves messages to let him know she's still there for him, but he doesn't pick up because he thinks electronic waves will read his mind or something like that. In the game it gets out of hand and he starts hallucinating. And since he owns a gun (is it real)... it might end really bad.

Anyway, if this game takes place in the real world, schizofrenia would be the explanation, i can't think of any other mental disease that share all these symptoms, except for Alzheimer but nothing indicates in his home that he could be an old man.

Killing his wife... maybe, but mental person usually are more of a danger to themselves, but it happens.

To me, the only thing in my explanation that doesn't make sense is that they keep a gun at the house. Or the gun isn't real. Or just 'murica.

I think we are the aliens, who come to the house and listen to the message the wife sent to Zach. So we contact everything unfamiliar, not send back the message to his wife. And I also guess if Zach has already known the outside aliens are coming and his wife might in danger, so he went out to find her, that is why these message leave too much hasn't been read. Seriously, I really be scared by my hand eventually. hhh~ Nice game!

Oh, man, this game was delightful! Some of my thoughts on the ending: it's extremely odd that instead of taking part in the attack, Zach is cleaning up and preparing for dinner. The aliens have seemingly been infiltrating society for a while; maybe in spite of June's notes, the alien read Calvin's books on self-hypnosis to better get into the "role" of Zach - and it worked too well?

The revelation about being an alien having to do with not answering the calls throws a bit of a wrench into that theory, though. Unless that's the reason for Zach's history of hating phone calls? It requires making some big assumptions, though, since I don't recall any notes hinting at any relationship.

Most of all, I'm still completely baffled by the "slowly they morph" note slipped into the newspaper. Who left that, and why? If it was a warning from the paper guy, why did they choose such an inefficient way of alerting the populace? Given the timing, could the paper guy be a plant, hiding "trigger phrases" in the papers of houses with aliens to signal the attack? I'm going to be stuck chewing on this all day...

I'd really like to know the true explanation of the story. I really enjoyed the game (loved the easter eggs especially) and how there were a lot of hidden details. Hope to see another game in the future!
