Is it possible to play such "Local Cooperative Games" via Hamachi?
I'm planning to buy the game, but I have a few doubts. Is it possible to play the game with any distant friends via Hamachi? Does the game allow us to connect with your friend via IP address or so?

(And the kid behind RoR achieved a miracle for just making it barely works imo)

@Savage Source: SRB2 is also a game using a network connection. RCG is pure local, one game, one pc, multiple controllers. It will not work over Hamachi. But it will with Parsec. If your friend also live in Europe it should be fine.

There is no networking (local or online) in this game. If you want to play online via its local multiplayer, your best bet is Parsec. https://parsecgaming.com/

Parsec? What this thing can do? It's okay if you summerize the essential informations about it in short.

hamachi works just fine.

@TemmieNeko : Wait what? Hamachi can do Local coop streaming now? Hamachi used to "just" create a VPN to simulate a local network over the internet.
If it's still just that it will not work on games that doesn't feature a network mode. Like RCG.

@Savage Source : It's a streaming service focused on multiplayer. If you want to play with a friend, you host the game and you will stream a video signal to your friend. The other player is controlling its character by sending its controller input over the internet.
Good Point: Only one copy of the game is needed. Bad Point: You need a beefy internet connection (low ping + good bandwidth).

Okay, that's really something new to me despite the fact I'm living in the 21st century of this world. :steamfacepalm:

I happened to be able to play SRB2 with my brother who is living in the same country via Hamachi. One of my friends living outside of my country just a bit further and another one which lives in America. The last one mentioned guy has some problem with Hamachi so I cannot play any games with him. I live in Europe. That must mean I have to use both Hamachi and Parsec the same time on different groups of players. A few of these people likes Scott Pilgrim so I came up with the idea to play River Girls cooperatively, but first I wanted to make sure it's technically possible.

I'm saying we never got it to work, so we used hamachi ( which did work ) that game is a spaghetti coded mess.

It was a mess code-wise for sure. Hoppo was 15 at the time IIRC. But decentralized online like the one used in ROR is super finicky and implementing NAT punch-through and stuff like that was certainly just too much for him back then.

But anyway, Hamachi will NOT work on RCG. 😉 Trying to make it clear to people thinking otherwise and buying the game by mistake because of that.
