Any one have an actual solution or better way to trouble shoot this issue?
If you've had the game for less than 2 weeks and have less than 2 hours play time, Steam is supposed to give you a refund no questions asked. I'm thinking about buying this now that it's on sale. Has this problem been resolved?
Right now it is unplayable. I have not been able to test it with remote play together which is the secondary reason I got it, but if it detects my controller as P2 i'm not sure how it would react to another person joining.
Currently unplayable for me as I do not use my keyboard for games.
go to the game > manage game > controller options > forced on
Pulled the trigger on this game after fun with the XBOX version and now on sale with steam PC version. Had the same problems everyone else had....stuck on Character Select and never being able to load into game play. The problem seems to be a conflict between the game and another controller on your PC. Had the same issue with a MOD for NFSMW where I could not use my WL XBOX controller UNLESS I UNPLUGGED my Saitek Pro Gamer Controller (I know -old school but I love for FPS). Once I unplugged the Pro Gamer Controller, NO MORE PROBLEMS! So if you have another controller type attached, try unplugging it. If that works for you; there are go-between USB adapter toggle switches that can turn the port on or off to the controller without the hassle of physically unplugging it. -Hope this helps you!
Here are a few things that may help you to diagnose/fix the issue.
As stated in previous messages, the problem is that your PC thinks you have more than one controller connected. The first step is to find what are the phantom controllers.
You can do this by running joy.cpl
It should display a list of all connected controllers, so if you have more than one, you can find the name of the devices to remove.
In my case, it was a "KMJ emulator" which came with another device (and which was active, even when the other device wasn't connected)
You can now open the device manager (run "devmgmt.msc" if you cannot find the device manager) and find the device to remove.
The easiest way is to select it, open the properties, go to the "Driver" tab and click the "Disable device" button (you can always re-enable it later if needed).
Now, in some case, this button isn't enabled. That's probably because your "device" is in fact many virtual devices in one (In my case, I found that my "KMJ emulator" had 3 sub-devices: a keyboard, a mouse and a joystick).
In this case, you can in the device manager window go to the menu "View" and select "Devices by connection".
You now should be able to see sub-devices for your device.
One of them should look like a joystick (mine was named "HID-compliant game controller"). Open its properties and click the "Disable device" button.
Check with joy.cpl again, and the extra controller should be gone.
Hopefully this will work for you.
A last thing: After I disabled the device, Windows asked for a reboot, and while most of the time modifications still work without a reboot, in this case it didn't; but after a reboot the game was working.
Nice they got back to you, but their answer is, like, so what? Just because I HAVE a second controller means I MUST play 2p? GTFOH with your underdeveloped trash, lol.
