How do you avoid Abobo's body slam?

I've just beaten him but I couldn't for the life of me figure out a consistent method to avoid that spinning body slam he does after he's been knocked down.

It's unblockable, it's extremely accurate, it's got a big hitbox and there's not enough time after it stops tracking you to move out of the way. Sprinting away, jumping, hopping up or down, wall hopping, nothing seemed to work. The only strategy I could come up with was to stay directly above or below him so that the attack wouldn't be triggered as often.

At one point I managed to jump over it by using Kyoko's screw kick to stay in the air but that costs meter and doesn't work if your sitting on top of him when he starts the lunge.

I just had to eat it every time and pray he didn't do it often enough to kill me.

I'm thinking this is the move where he sucks you in. You just run out of the ring of his vortex.

No it's the one he does after he gets up.

Around the 2 minute mark he does it twice in a row (btw I know the video shows that he misses the first time but I haven't been nearly as lucky with it)

The only times I dodged it were when I was running perpendicular to where he was leaping from, or when I jump towards him and land right on him while he was doing it, causing him to somehow leap to the opposite side of the screen.

It is a pretty weird boss fight I've gotta say. That move really doesn't feel right

He's probably the hardest boss fight in the game, or at least harder than Sabuko. I had to exploit his block-headbutt pattern, and even then, it took me a good while before I beat him.

Never really got powerbombed. All I did was a 3 hit combo and block. Rinse and repeat. Avoid the falling/thrown rocks and I eventually got to him.

Constantly moving helps, but the move is just that cheap (I feel like he even moves mid-attack to be more close to you).

Heads up... if you hit him with Misako's Nutshot (down + Hard) during the windup you can actually interrupt Abobo's Body Press/Slam. Same goes for his clap attack in the third phase, the one that sends out sparks bouncing around the room. You can also knock him out of his flying elbow midair with it. The i-frames and hitbox on that thing are insane. It makes an EXTREMELY effective interrupt and anti-aerial.
