I don't know what's wrong with developers using hardcoded inputs. Input remapping is the easiest thing to do from technical point of view when it comes to game development. Just use something like SDL2 and it will work on every system you port your game to.
Or when they allow you to remap everything but direction keys... in fighting games...
I don't even think I found all the keys you can use.
y = hard attack (which btw is beneath a and s on my keyboard)
i = blocking
u = back
g = low attack
space = ok but only on the very first screen
I will wait 2 days for the remap tool or else I will refund.
its designed for two player on one keyboard.
you can't change the layout for now.
So it is designed for one specific keyboard layout. And they don't tell you that on their info box.
jokes aside, this is fine for qwerty keyboard but compact keyboard will make it hell. especially if you have fat hand or long fingers or lack the reflex/flexibility of a DDR Keyboard master. gamepad is supported and highly reccommended.
FPS? Mouse and keyboard.
Flight Sim? Joystick.
Arcade brawler? Controller.
PC gamers complaining about games working better with controllers or complaining when a dev says that a controller is recommended is SILLY.
You can be a PC gamer and enjoy all types of control systems. You don't have to ALWAYS use a keyboard and mouse because you are on PC.
You can get an Xbox controller for $20 bucks or even cheaper used at the store. You can then plug it in to your Windows PC and it just works. I've been using mine 7 years now across multiple PCs.
If you are a gamer, there is no reason not to invest in a controller for PC games. Even the Commodore-freaking-64 computer released in 1982 expected you to occasionally plug in a joystick to make playing a game better.
There are legit flaws with keyboards, for example if you want to play on coach I guess or when sticky keys can cause problems in some games (which is fixable with mechanical keyboards), but otherwise it's on par with controllers.
It's a shame that developers didn't bother with providing control settings for keyboards (and I assume for controllers just as well), such low effort job is the reason why many people started to dislike keyboards nowadays which is absolutely wrong because developers are the only people to blame.
That said:
This is not as bad as I thought, this is playable layout for me, including P2 control. Though I still would change that a bit, especially block button.
many report PS4 controller works.
Xbox seems to work.
Logitech f3150 works fine (The one I use)
basically anything with directinput and / or x-input should work
