How do you parry?

I think I accidentally skipped the tutorial for parrying but I know I randomly do it sometimes while attacking enemies right before they attack me. Is that it or am I missing something because I can't do it reliably.

the window in which you can parry is very tight. you need to block at the moment of the attack.

also, there was no actual tutorial. it just said press and hold this button to block. you can stun the enemy if you have the right timing.

that's it.

Check the animations of the enemies, just when they are charging to do the attack press block, I been getting it (sometimes) like that.
Anyway there is no safe space to try it so if you fail you might get hit not only by that enemy but others near you, so it's up to you to decide if it's even worth the try.

I can't do it reliably either. The timing window is extremely small. I waited to practice on the last enemy on a screen, and I could only reliably pull off the parry like maybe 20% of the time.

I'm not sure it is worth trying either, because the reward for a parry is tiny, and the punishment for missing it is severe.

You need to block at the exact moment, though there's not much benefit on parrying vs blocking as you still block all the damage and have frame advantages against your attacker just from regular blocking, so don't blame yourself too hard.
