Build Strategies
What does everyone do for how they buy for and build their character? Here's mine and my reasoning.

I use recon, because his cloak allows him to do the three most important things: stay alive, revive, and fix the generator. I used to play Support since he has double the armor and can heal, but if a Spino or T-rex starts charging him, then it's likely he will die (if the wave is intense and no help comes).

My starting layout is C9 and Utility Gun. The C9 can one shot the raptors with a head shot and its base damage is rather high so it's useful all game. The utility gun allows me to have unlimited ammo and I can heal vehicles and fix the generator at twice the speed.

When I start buying I focus on specs first, since the C9 can last me for quite a few waves. I get survival first, so Iron Pecks then Wolverine. I used to get Wolverine first, but then I noticed that if I run out of shield with Iron Pecks, then that's the same as dying with Wolverine. Anyways, once I have those I no longer have to worry about refilling my health.

Next I get the cape spec. This is mostly because at basically any time a bird can pick you up and kill you if you don't react in time. Also, it lets you jump off cliffs, which can save time. The 7.5k spec for not being able to get picked up seems over priced by comparison.

The double energy spec should be rushed if you think you will be overwhelmed. It helps a lot with cloaking to revive teammates or fix the generator, but also has other uses, such as in a vehicle it doubles the amount you can use for boost or mini guns.

Now I focus on fire power. The three main items are double clip size, automatic shotgun, and the 7k sniper rifle. The double clip size allows your C9 to clear a large section of a wave of raptors, your rifle will take out the larger dines, then your auto shotgun is a mass clearing weapon when needed. You could also get focused aim, though the rifle and C9 have good aim.

Usually you won't get past this in a survival mode, but if in conquest, then vampire is useful. You do not heal much from it while alive, but if you're downed, then you can inch your way to one to try to revive yourself. It's usually 50/50 that you'd be close enough to one, but that's 50% chance to live more than otherwise.

I thought about experimenting with the Ninja spec with the expensive stick, so I'll do that soon and let you know.

Anyways, I'd like to hear what everyone thinks and what type of build plans your have for this or other classes.

i usually try and get greedy then a turret most times. this is a great trick to get a lot of money to help your team earn other stuff.

otherwise I try and upgrade a recon class with 2x shield, no fall dmg, 2x melee, weapon augments, and either a longshot or an energy carbine mixed with the lightsabre

On conquest I get greedy at the first base, but on survival you only make so much that it's hard to earn it back in time. Yea, it'll be interesting to see what Orion: Prelude will be like. I hear it's coming, but there's not too much info on it. If nothing else having a dedicated server would be nice.

I once thought c9 was best pistol, but RNC9 is far superior imo.

Also, the automatic shotgun is hilariously bad. The regular trek-12 pump action is many times better.

trek12 combat shotgun is my favorite gun.

also the best pistol is the m-40 for ammo / damage. not to mention whenm mixed with upgrades

The pump action has twice the damage, but the automatic fires twice as fast. I found that with the pump against a large herd you kill 1-2 dinos, but the time between shots is enough for another one to fill the gap and do damage, though with the auto shotgun it's more of a steady stream of damage for 5 sec (10 with double clip size). I have the rifle for constant damage, but if I need a quick burst to buy me time to reload or heal, then I empty my auto shotgun and switch back.

Pump shotgun is useful on insane, auto shotgun isnt.

With perks, I can kill 12 raptors with 12 shots ie one mag.

Autoshotgun, however, struggles with killing a single raptor. It has so bad range that its only useful if you are in melee range anyway. I see no use to it at all. Pump shotgun is better in every way imo. At least on harder difficulties.

trek 13 is pretty decent fully upgraded (2x damage, 2x rate of fire, 2x reload, 2x clip) as it becomes like a freaking AA gun lol

but the cost trade off to get it to that level is not usually worth it when the trek 12 can be great with a single weapon upgrade.

Trek 12 with upgrades is a whole lot better than trek 13 with upgrades.

Hell, I would even go as far as saying that Trek 12 without upgrades is better.

I go with Assault, Magnum, and Longshot.

Until I decide to get the Energy Carbine. :)
