Is Kao's voice different now? also everyone pronounces his name wrong, it's meant to be Kay-O, like in boxing, not cow

I think the 'correct' voice acting was in the American release, while this one's based on European one. The voices sound like they were recorded by Polish voice actors at times (since the studio is Polish), though you'd think if the studio itself was overseeing the recording sessions, they would correct the pronounciation.

Yeah, not one of the voice actors sounds like they knew English as a first language, the pronunciations and the way some sentences were delivered made it seem like a non English speaker reading words without much context about what they are meant to be portraying. I remember in the Polish dub in the first cutscene the parrot is singing to itself, but in this English version its just saying "Pam" with no rhythm as if the voice actor wasn't directed on what to do.

I'm really not a fan of the dub they used. Is there any way we could get the US dub?

I played this game a lot in my early teens (the European cow version), but found out recently that they made two English dubs. It's strange, but I like Kao's kid voice, it's fitting especially since our hero seems pretty young, I mean he's smaller than the parrot. In the European cow version his voice always reminded me of Rayman. It would be interesting to play the US version, there could be options for both.

I looked at a video for a coin I was missing and my god the voice acting was so much nicer. Turns out it was the American version. I always thought the voice acting was particularly bad but I saw the devs are Polish and thought maybe they did it themselves for budgetary reasons. You could argue American accents don't do justice to a European studio, but Kao is already bizarre given the devs are Polish yet its about a stereotypical aussie Kangaroo with boxing gloves. At least the American lines are delivered well enough, this version has some of the most cringe voice-over I've ever heard.
