As a big Date A Live fan, I wonder....Just what is it that makes the series popular outside Japan?
It's not criticism in any way, it's a legit question that I've been wondering for a while.

A while ago, series creator Koichi Tachinaba expressed how surprised he was to hear that DAL is popular outside Japan.

It just makes me genuinely wonder what people like so much about the series, to the point where it not only spawned 2 additional seasons and a Japan-exclusive movie, but also (and most notably to me) people requesting for the VNs to be localized at pretty much every IFI event since their inception.

There's a couple reasons I can think of....

  • All the cute girls as drawn by Tsunako
  • The combination of slice-of-life, sci-fi and supernatural battles
  • The surprising amount of story/lore, with not only Ratatoskr (Shido and the girls), but also other factions like the AST (Anti-Spirit Team) and DEM Industries

Wrong. Everybody is entitled to an informed opinion. You two are just trolling here for the heck of it. You also have dyslexia or something, because I said, it COULD start a flamewar, not that one is already going.

So you're saying people like you are just allowed to say whatever you want and those who find your attitudes highly provoking should just shut up because saying something back means we're butthurt?

#♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I am quite sure anime community Enjoyed bashing SAO because of reasons...

Remember the rape scene on Season 3?
Cant get anywhere worse than that.

You know, I really hope JC STAFF actually fixes DAL III for its Blu-ray release. It wouldn't help with some of its problems, but it would at least make it better to watch visually, IMO.

Here i thought the Itsuka Disaster arc is the reason why i wont watch any of it,
Cramping 1 volume in 1 episode.
♥♥♥♥ you JC Staff

Yeah, when I saw Episode 11's ending I legitimately thought "Wait, what? Is this the end or something? Don't we have another episode to go? What happened to that?". I would've rather seen another episode of Origami instead, and relegate what was Episode 12 to a Blu-ray OVA or something.

There seems to problem appointing human resource when making DAL Season 3 considering IMS went bankrupt right after DAL 3 announced.

JC Staff was already busy with some anime preproduction and having OPM2 in their list already quite a burden considering how community expect the animation going to be.

I mean look at DAL3 visuals ads

God it looks so damn awful, almost like someone had to make it less than a day.

After OPM2 ended, all the concurrent airing anime from JC Staff
- Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator
- Machikado Mazoku
- Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki Desu ka?
- Danmachi 2

Seems unaffected by any of the bad animation or artstyle (Accelerator were already bad from source visuals),
Its almost like JC Staff lifted their burden after making OPM2 omegalul

Honestly I still think S1 looks the best; S2 just looks kinda....soft, let's say. (Then again, might just be the compression that comes with streaming and digital copies of the season, since I don't have it on Blu-ray)

TBH, I'm really looking forward to this game. Or rather, collection of visual novels.

Me too, i hope they keep making more of VN Considering
LN is just like 1 volume left. (I think it's already announced somewhere) and there's not much hope left for anime adaptation , it sure nailed it self to the coffin on 3rd season.

Surprised to see the season 3 hate. While I get animation complaints, to me the 2nd half of Season 3 is by far the peak of the anime.

The Kurumi OVA and the 2nd half of Season 3 are the only reasons I became a big fan of Date A Live, I always got a kick out of Date A Live, but it was really those mentioned parts that separated the anime from any similar show.

Reported Mari and Xaelath for derailing and flamebait posts. Enjoy.

I think it got alot of hate from Source reader,

Seriously though it was very underwhelming..
I seriously cannot understand why they dont cut it on Origami Arc instead they rushed to Itsuka Disaster arc in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ single episode

For me it was the visual quality. Some of it was alright, but most of the time it looked like it was either done in MS Paint, by a 5 year old, and/or with messy blobs of paint.
