As I understand it, the "correct" way to approach this franchise is to watch season 1 of the anime and or read the first LN, then play Rinne Utopia, then watch/read Season 2, then play Arusu Install, Then watch/read Season 3, then play Rio Reincarnation.

Actually, proper order would be:
-Season 1 of anime (volumes from 1 to 4)
-Rinne Utopia
-Season 2 of anime (volumes from 5 to 7)
-movie Mayuri Judgement
-Ars Install
-Rio Reincarnation
-and so on with volumes (season 3 covers volumes from 8 to 12, many situations from Natsumi arc are skipped so read vol. 8 and 9 also, last episode in which they fit entire volume is awful and i really recommend to read 12th volume)

From what I read, the anime is an adaptation of the LN and covers the same material. Of course the book is always better, but I've heard it's not all that much better. (I do plan to read them myself, at some point.) There's some extra details here and there, of course. If you prefer LNs then feel free to read them instead of or in addition to the anime.

So it sounds like you're actually ready to begin the game.

not several but a lot of
the visual novels are "spin off" in most people's opinion

That's what I read. Though since the LN & Anime came out before the games, it's more like the games cover the gap between those?

I haven't started the game yet because I'm still watching the anime. I'm getting slowed down a little bit by having to re-time Doki's subtitles to the director's cut edition.

I don't think Rio Reincarnation goes into season 3.

I just recommend the anime since it's more immersive and not long.

games fill gaps between anime seasons ? yes i heard it too,
heard the anime is full of gaps as well, and the anime removed 90% of flashbacks or something

well think it this way, rinne utopia take place after DAL season 1 in anime, as for rio reincarnation, after DAL season 2, the last one I am not sure, probably just a new spin off series in DAL.

Read the LN first, then watch the anime then play the game.
