Late game strategy

Hello everyone, I'm totally loving this game, and i'm getting addicted. Usually I'm able to clime till the second, third place every match but.....what should I do to win a game? What's the best strategy to win in late? I try a good combination of stars and sinergies but....probably I chose the wrong pieces?

Right now everybody is kind of trying to understand the new meta. Nobody knows for sure, cause the last update is still very new and it changed a lot of things. Two things seem to be true most of the time though:

1. Most builds that were good before the update, are still at least decent after the update.
2. There is not one specific way to win the game.

To get to first place, you need some luck and you'll have to avoid as many mistakes as you possibly can.

You really need to know the available heroes in the shop pool, and the ones you're currently using. Always check if you want to keep all your heroes or exchange for a higher tier.
Besides that, check your money and plan a few rounds ahead, so you know when you're going to buy down for a level upgrade or when you have to reroll a lot. For the latter case, consider what units you could reasonably upgrade and whether it's worth the potential loss of income (interest).
Also, don't hold onto too many units. Buy those you can upgrade to two stars, and then the one or two you could potentially three-star. Everything else is wasted space and could potentially allow another reroll if made liquid.

I'm honestly surprised you're able to pretty consistently hit the top three and still not get first place finishes. Finishing top two or even three is technically "winning" anyways in auto chess games.

I feel like if you're usually hitting top two or three as you say, then just keep playing and try to learn from your mistakes. You'll be getting some 1st places finishes soon enough if you're consistently placing high.

yes sometimes but not every match like 2 patches before.

I just won a game with a very very late build. I was the first reached below 30 (and maintain 20 something till the end) while they were all around 70-80. I use two very unpopular synergy.

There is no strategy at this point. There is no point in learning this game at all. The patches and balance changes are so drastic that they change the game completely every week. Its extremely frustrating.

comebacks are fairly common, I once had a comeback from 1 hp while everybody else had over 50. also I saw quite a lot of other players pull out similar staff. it's a bit more rare now with the needed loss streak nerf.

Yeah, today i lost and i had 1 hp, then i killed everyone and i won
lol :D
