What does the vertical line in some units health bar mean?

Some units have a vertical line dividing their health bar (usually around 60% of their hp but it varies). I can't figure out what it means, sorry if its written down anywhere but I haven't seen it mentioned in any guides either.

Those are chunks of 500 hp, I suppose.

I'm not sure Axe's looks like it's at like 80% and only has that one. I forgot what other unit had one as well, but only a few heroes do and they are randomly spaced. It's a legitimate question which has no plausible explanation.

It's not that mysterious. Axe has 700 hp, so he has 1 line. Most 2star units have two lines. It's because 2star units usually have more than 1000 hp. That would be my guess.

Just look at forged in battle. Your brawnies get so many vertical lines in their hp bar, you'll have trouble counting them.

Doh, it's obvious when you put it like that. I've only ever looked at the lines early on in games when I had plenty of time to spare. Thanks Hotze, if its a HP separator that makes some sense. I never noticed more than one vertical line before.
