Question on Sky Islands
has anyone played a game with these, having to cover 2 of your buildings? i haven't yet but saw it once but restated the campaign and haven't gotten that far. you have to place them on an empty spot in your charter or on top of an existing building. my question might seem obvious but you never know, does the sky island actually cover the building it's on top of taking it out of play or can you toggle the two (one below the sky island and the one built on top of it) thus giving you an extra building in your charter. anyone know how they work? anyone know why they are there? make the game harder i guess. or what? i mean you have to give up things to build a building in the first place and it looks like sky island placement takes it out of the game...why? again, to mix things up? make it harder? thoughts?

I've played up to the first game with sky islands twice and have the same questions. Would love to see an answer.

Just finished the campaign today and the sky islands replace two of the existing buildings on your charter. You can choose which building it covers at the start of each chapter so you can devise a strategy to get more points with different building combinations. It does make the game harder because you cannot use every building.

thanks pandae - i think i got the card starting game 3. is that when they start or is it random? also, and the big question, once the card comes out you have to cover 2 of your existing buildings for EVERY game from then on? if that is so, the building you covered last game is uncovered for the next game? what happens to the building you built on top of the sky island? meaning, in game 3 you cover building X but during the game put building Y on top of the sky island. then you place them again in game 4 (right?) so building X is again uncovered (unless you cover it again) but what happens to building Y (the one on top of the sky island in the previous game)? whew...thanks

@devxx - The real board game is a legacy game - meaning portions of the game will be "destroyed", never to be used again. In the real board game, you place a sticker on top of any building your are building over. Essentially the covered building is removed from the game, no longer available and the points for that building are gone. So, if you replace a building with another, whether it's on the board or on a sky island, it is gone from the game. The Sky Island iworks as a temporary cover of a building. So, like you said, if you cover X with a sky island, then you can cover Y next game and X becomes available again. However, it your replace your Sky Island building with another, then the original is gone for good.

The Sky Islands are really not explained at all in the digital campaign and I didn't understand them until my second game with them when I realised they were temporary covers and you keep them between games. Turns out in real life they are pieces of cardboard.
