No they said that it's part of the design. It kind of sucks. The only other option is to reroll your card choices in the hopes of something that you want.

I am conflicted about it. From Slay the Spire and a few comparables I am accustomed to being able to skip card rewards but being forced is perhaps not a bad thing. It might compel me to adapt to builds and use of cards I would not otherwise have ever chosen. I am yet to see how it impacts on deck dynamics as the size of the deck reaches higher numbers.
I came to forums to see if I was missing anything because I am used to being able to skip the loot after a fight. For a game that warns you that if your deck gets too large you may miss your best cards... it seems like an odd design choice.

I think the only part I'm not really fond of is the inability to skip; I get that it is like this by design, but trying to build a well strategized deck and not being able to because of bad rng even with rerrolling is not fun. When rerrolling and not getting synergies you are also losing money, double punishment;

Mechanically this game is very similar to Slay the Spire (even some enemies have the exact same mechanics as some in STS), but you have less control when building your deck, and with SO MANY cards and unlocks it gets harder as the time goes by, making it more difficult.

Offering a few other observations relative to Slay the Spire -

Card removal is both more available and affordable i.e. more taverns and one removal is always 50 coins

Reward choice also includes the trinkets / artifacts, one-use items and cards that get removed from the battle deck within each battle, so it is not always mandatory to take a card that will stay within the deck

I have played through to the third boss of the starting islands now a couple times and lost a few other runs. I have not had the feeling of having a bloated deck yet. By contrast if I was taking card draws from most or every battle in a Slay the Spire run I would be doomed to failure. So . . . potentially the game is well balanced to incorporate the mandatory draw.

I am not declaring myself a huge fan of the absence of reward skipping but my early experience is that it does not prevent fun/good deck building.

A bit of q work around is to select a relic if you have one (or re-roll till you do), choosing it and at the 'replace screen' selecting skip before you confirm it. This way you pick up no reward. A bit cheaty but sometimes the right choice for me.

Huh, did not realise you could do that! Cool! I continue to not find the forced addition a barrier that prevents creation of good decks too. This will help.

Gotta recycle the choices til you hit a one-use card or relic

You can route through Events for less rewards. Reroll for relics, or cards that draw or remove or otherwise hurt your deck less. You can pay extra to double-remove. These are all counterweights that exist specifically in balance with non-skippable rewards, in that you'd have to make removal somewhat rare and more of the starter cards would have to be awful if you were allowed to skip.
