overpriced DLC for this too?
I had heard about Dead or Alive 6 having lots of overpriced DLC but it seems that this game is gonna fall victim to the same thing from Koei Tecmo. Right now, there are three season passes for the game in Japan. In yen currency, the cost of them equal out to about $21 USD and $29 in USD. I don't know the amount of the third one, but the YouTuber I follow who covered it said that combined they cost more than the whole game. https://youtu.be/O0V7NMQb34g?t=237
Granted, from the looks of it previous Atelier games(like Lydie&Suelle) seem to have alot of overpriced DLC, but its quite another thing to see it first-hand on release(or close to release).

I am definitely against this business model, but I want to remind Todd Howard's words:

"...People will buy anything..." (32:18)

This is a global affliction, not Japanese.

How about you make a substantial addition like a new area, new quest line, new game mechanics, story and characters then it would be a worth while DLC, but swim suits and costumes? just give them away during summer or holidays and make your fans happy! build some good will instead of nickel and dimming us.
or alternatively, make a ton of costumes and turn it into one DLC that the combined amount of them makes the price of admission worth it. I personally like alternate costumes, but I don't feel that an outfit or two is worth $5.

I have been playing Atelier games since Ayesha and you never need the DLC to enjoy the campaign. So I do not know why people make such a fuss on Atelier DLCs.

It is human nature to desire more than is necessary. And you are no different from the person buying up all the additional content for Atelier; you just have this property manifested in something else.
I came and vulgarised everything (._.)

it the fact that the sell a "season pass" or "Deluxe" version and then make you pay extra if you want the dlc. When I buy a deluxe version i expect the whole game no more dlc or micro transaction bs. And I am still pissed that there is not a english dub. But meh people today are hard hearted, god hating, perverted, money grubbing, libtard, socalist, communist, a$$hole brats; so I don't expect too much anymore.

This type of DLC is working amazingly well over in Japan so it's going to continue. It's not for you or me but solely targeting the whale fans who will happily blow money on the overpriced addons. There's enough whales to more than make up for screwing the average customer in stockholders' eyes.

I can't see how people can whale tbh

Above posters are correct, K-T listens to their marketing/accounting departments who have calculated that a few people buying very high priced DLC makes more money than a lot of people buying cheap DLC, probably because even if DLC was cheap those same people who don't buy it for a lot of money still won't buy it.

I hope it makes them a LOT more money, because while it may be fine for people who don't care for DLC and big spenders, it's really a big "screw you" for people who really want the DLC but don't have the spare income.

I honestly just... fly the black flag for DLC priced like this. I like extra dungeons and characters, but not for the cost of a full game on top of it all, so... may as well employ the alternative solution.
