How to move resources (ore, sand) from further removed locations ?

Hi,
I'm wondering how I'm supposed to transport resources like ores and sand from mines towards my town in a faster way then having the workers walk all the way from the mine to the town to store it.

I've tried building a stockyard/storeyard.. (I forget exact name, but the one that stores the ores and sand) but instead workers brought ores and sand from my town towards the far removed mine site.. not what I wanted and the workers from the mine totally ignored that storage location.

I've tried moving my cart over there (the one you can control) but I couldn't empty it, not even by unflagging all the content... and to make matters worse.. raiders came in and destroyed my personal movable cart... (can I make another one?)...

So.. how do you move ore/sand from far removed mines ?!?
Its very tedious & slow to have the workers run up and down to town each time they have 6 units or so....

Look under storage and you will find an Ox cart building. Once you build it you can make 2 ox carts. The drivers will automatically drive to those locations.
