If a map doesn't have something then you trade for it if you can.
I play idilic, but when I see something that more or less I like, I reroll the seed but not the map. It takes a while
How do you do that?
At the beginning of the game in spanish you can reinitiate the map, or renew the map. Using renew the map gives you a brand new map, but reinitiate the map only shuffles the resources in the same map.
Some resources are fixed, but hunting, cottage and mines are variable
FFFFFF66EEE Large
Everything you need and lots of usable land right at the spawn. Might have to reroll a few times to get the wildlife you want but otherwise its load and play. It's been my go to seed the entire EA so that its easy to test out the new mechanics.
For me, I generally feel compelled to start near a 3 chevron deer patch and trees. That is it. Ideally I like to have herbs near by, because buying those from the trader can be annoying.
Keep in mind there isn't a tax or anything on trades. Which means, for example, you can trade early game stone and buy cattle. Later, you can buy the stone back. If you want to min/max it, sell high and buy low.
The trader exists to turn one item into another, and the meta goal is to basically have something to sell every year. If Atka is purchasing coal and you have a large stock of wood, you should have had workers turning firewood into coal. If you are just making enough candles per year, drop down another 3 apiary and add another candle maker so you have something to sell.
Every trader which leaves without taking their gold is a missed opportunity.
Thanks for the input everyone :)
Infinity mines can be far away, i will build a second city once every finite ressource got used nearby. Some Sand is nice aswell.
I Had a pretty decent run without any Willow, roots or herbs, but wasnt that much of fun, because waiting for those was annoying.
I am perfectly happy with No Clay at all. Had 5k Clay and 3k bricks after 100 years just by trading.
Like... I know i don't need clay or iron right away, and i don't care if it's far off, i can figure it out... but if i cant find any?!? I refuse to be that dependent on trade... It grinds my gears that i need to trade at all but you can't smelt your own iron to make your own heavy tools without trading for them first... But on the same hand i can't imagine NO TRADE at all... I just hate depending on it.
Try this seed: 9486B14B400 Large
Loads of iron, sand, ore, coal. Infinity mines for Stone, sand, gold, coal, gold not too far away. Willow, fishing and herbs nearby. No clay on the whole map, so you are kinda dependent, but i always bought it from taders and ended up with more than 5k.
Cons: lot of mountains and hills, need to a lot of terraforming. not too m,uch fertility.
Probably a 8/10 on a difficulty scale.
seed: 11111D65111
settings: default
map size: medium
-> enough fertile soil
-> huge flat area
-> small mountain with atleast 2 of all resources as deep mines(sand is rare)
-> 2 sand pits/deepmines near the lake
-> enough normal resources aka clay / iron / etc as just normal mines
-> atleast 7 deer spots
-> atleast 2 boar spots
downside?
-> no medicine roots, but i never used them anyway so no need for it.
You don't like the roll you got? deerspots not near or not enough deep mines?
-> ESC -> restart -> as many times you like to get the perfect roll.
Have fun!
