storage limits and logistics
Just want to put this out there for those not aware.

I played around with the storage limits and observed how people transport goods with regards to this mechanic.
So basically people will deliver their goods to the nearest storage that will accept it, regardless if it will overstock. If it does overstock, a laborer will then transport it to the nearest storage that will accept it.
A few things that's interesting is that,
1) It is the laborers who transport the goods from storage to storage, not the production worker like a sawyer.

2) A central storage can be made where a limit is placed on a good, say wood, and it will act as a distribution center to other storage one might have.

3) With this implementation, I think it's more convenient now to set up a remote town separate from your main town without having to build all production buildings in that remote area again.

Good Grief!

I never knew we could place Storage Limits, I thought Limits only applied to Productions.

More fiddling is ahead for me, for sure.

Thanks for the Information and Clarity; much appreciated! :)

I'm still discovering more hidden mechanics for sure.. But things seem to be more organized now that I know this.

For example, I just placed 4 hunter lodge a bit far away from my town. Before I'll just place the 4 lodges and forget about them. Now I place a root cellar and a storehouse near them. Then I set the maximum quota to 1 for meat and fur. What happens is when hunter hut is full, they will take their fur or meat to the nearby root cellar/storehouse, and continue hunting. My free laborers will then take all of it to my main root cellar/storehouse where the bulk of my production for shoes and hides and smoked meat are at. What results is more productivity time and less travelling for the hunters. My smokers too won't have to travel to every hunter lodge to get meat. Instead, all the meat for smoking will be brought to and stored at a nearby root cellar.

just in case if you or someone else didnt know
ps it's one of pinned post in FF discussion with update number, like we have now 0.9.2 (0.9.2 is major update , but all further fixes for this update will have a letter from letter A to another letter in alphabet order- 0.9.2.d for now)

To be clear, is it the hunter gets 1 and moves it as soon as they skin it?

I had just tried putting smokehouses out by my fishing and hunting shacks on my last map, but quit that one before seeing how well it worked because I wanted to try a different city layout.

No, we can't control what the hunter does in his hut. But usually when his fur or meat is full, he will bring it to the nearest storage that will accept it. The root cellar is the one you set the max quota to 1. So when the root cellar receives more than 1 meat going beyond the max quota, a laborer and not the hunter, will bring it somewhere else.

Pretty sure I've got it set to 0 and it still works.

Yeah I don't know why I set it to 1. But 0 might be better haha
