Flatten Terrain Tool not big enough for new deep mines
one of my deep mines is on the side of the hill but the tiles required for the deep mine to be flat are too large for the flatten tool to manage.

I've tried gradually flattening into the hill bit by bit - doesn't work

I've tried doing the largest amount of tiles to flatten, over and over - doesn't work

Everything I try to do, there's always some tiles when I try and place the mine that 'are too sloped'

Please help - I worked so hard to get to tier 4 and I cant even reap the benefits....

I just downloaded "Terrain Helper" mod from Nexus, and tested it quickly - it works. Give it a try, if you like. Don't think I'm allowed to post a link here to an outside source.

Literally do a Google search for
"farthest frontier mods terrain helper"
... and you'll see it.

Try flattening only the exact number of tiles that the building requires. 4 x 5 for deep stone mines. Will have to do it three times usually.

I had exactly the same problem, but I expressed the hill, i think it took almost 20 years:steambored:. the Terrain Helper mod bugs my residents so I can't use it

I just used the Terrain Helper mod about 30 minutes ago.
I wanted to move all my "undesirable" buildings to one location, and flattened an area outside of town a bit ... worked no problem. Haven't seen any villager pathing problems yet.

the built in terrain tool can take a LOT of applications to make a site usable, particularly if that site happens to be on the side of a mountain. I wouldnt be surprised to have to run the same spot over with it 20+ times to get it flat enough to build on

As others said, if you use the terrain tool in the exact size and shape of the building you want to build, it will be faster, but yeah, whenever you try to flatten a really sloppy terrain, you need multiple uses of the flatten tool.

I personally like using it a couple time in a max size area, and then focus it a couple more times in the exact shape of the buildings I want.

just to clarify is it the yellow inner squares or the white outer squares you need to focus on I have flattened my terrain over and over and it still says too steep but I can not figure out what part is too steep
