Hmm I have 5 taverns with 655 pop. I will take one out and see the difference. Non the less pops dying in fistfights are not an issue usually two or more will die but not 35+ from a single guy xD Thats why I call for a cap so he stops after 5 or even 2. Its a guard with bonus dmg from relics so civilians couldnt fight back maybe if relic buffs werent taken into consideration when in social fight maybe it will help...
I have 4 pubs 1 per market place, i have atm 250 villagers.
Last playtrough i had 800 vilagers with the same 4 pubs. Never seen a fight,
i have been playing this game from it's EA release, seen lots of people wondering, but i have never had one myself. So you guys are doing something wrong.
Perhaps it happens more often when taverns are placed near barracks? I have one positioned like that and have had several cases.
Not if you ask me as even some tower guards tend to get drunk and get physical and some of them which I caught were nowhere close to tavern. Also I dont even remember if it was a barracks guard of tower guard so cant work around it...
I could be wrong, but people get drunk when they aren't happy and when that happens to guards/soldiers it gets funny.
If you have smiley faces and 100% happiness and people get drunk and lay waste to your villagers, it may be a bug or unintended occurrence.
Everyones super happy, got most at 100% or close to. Some stuff like battle ready and work effectiveness is at 120%. The least Ive got is 85% spirituality but I can only build a single temple so dunno how to fix it. Anyway doubt its the reason.

When the click on the temple and shrines it tells you how many people they are servicing.
