optimal number of workers on a 12x12 field?

Out of interest, how many workers should I have per field?
I know I can go max.
How low can I go and what happens? It seems like harvest and planting happens instantly, no?

I'm not sure how much it matters. I usually have 6 farmers on a 10x10 field. As an experiment, I upped that to the max farmer limit of 14 and got no appreciable difference in output.

I have a guess that more workers are needed the further out the field is located from your storage, else you run the risk of them spoiling in the field.

How much farm 12x12 you have? I have 6 farm with 5 people in each which I have total 30 farmer, farmer will help other farm if they done with theirs, giving a "rest" in crop rotation help them managing too

I have found the most efficient way to farm is 5x6 lots and you stagger the crops so that you cut disease to almost zero and improve harvesting. Once the farms are fully weeded and rocks removed you can lower workers to one each and if you correctly staggered the crops they are more than enough to plant and harvest with a bit of maintenance to keep the weeds down.
