With v0.8.0 villagers will now favour homes near to their work places so you can build smaller communities out by resources. Slap down some houses, a well, market place, compost yard, storage, etc.
Then how do I transfer resources to my main city?
Wagons will take them if you have unticked storage facilities near those communities to start with. Same for other goods; untick them from nearby storage so they don't get stored there.
Okay, so they see "large transport requests", like me unticking 30+ baskets from a flung off town and they'll send a cart to pick them up. That's good to know. I just assumed they sent 10 villagers on a month's long trek.
Again, wagons will only collect from pits, mines and work camps. Anything else will be moved by your villagers running back and forth.
So, literally not a solution to my question then? I need to move the yellow plant thing for baskets from a very very far away place.
yes but it takes a bit of micro...
If you untick the main storage and tick the far storage, they will also start emptying the main storage to fill the far one...
althou once full you can keep the far one ticked and re-tick the close one... as the far one becomes to need more again, untick the close one ... rinse and repeat
yes in that sense having that hub so far away is actually pointless as it just will refuse to work the chain
