Oooh, how do I do that exactly?
Charcoal kiln under resources.
Maps will not have all resources on them so it just depends on what type of map you roll if you went with the random option.
Charcoal makers do a good job if you don't have any coal, but make sure you have a good supply of wood of course.
And the hawthorn bushes can be permanently removed, I always do it if I got some in the way of other important resources.
i think it is fine and like the randomness of the map. It makes more fun/challenging to figure out how to deal with the situation.
What I do not like though is the limits placed on you to overcome the situations. Ok so NO coal fine. So in real life I would tell the traders we need coal, BRING COAL. but you can't do this. So traders show up with fish and no coal every time even though the town is surrounded by lakes lol
Devs are planning to have an option where you can request goods for a premium price with traders.
Thing is though, that's not going to be a great solution to the problem anyway since (particularly if you aren't on Peaceful and need to maintain a garrison for raids) making money in this game is a real ♥♥♥♥♥. With so many buildings demanding money, then the soldiers taking 5 gold from your pitiful income, the limited range of markets, not to mention the maintenance costs of buildings like the Rat Catcher, Theatre, and Healer's House, making enough money to be able to actually afford big purchases from merchants is already had in Tier 2 and early Tier 3. It might settle out after that point, but even so that's not the point.
plus, what about resources that you NEED to keep things running but which are finite, like Sand, Clay, and Iron? If you special request those all the time you'll go broke very quickly, and it's not like you can just sell off the wares you make using them because the whole reason you're buying them is to support your town with those wares.
I'd like to see the various resource mines have an optional - but expensive - upgrade to get more capacity, theoretically ad infinitum myself.
They also plan to add quarries and deep mines further down the line to make those types of resources more sustainable.
I knew about the quarries, but not the deeper mines. Good to know!
