Upgrading the trading post

Curious if players that have progressed deep into tier 3 or even tier 4 have any insight into whether upgrading the trading post is worth it. 2 of the 3 listed benefits seem of dubious value. durability on this structure seems irrelevant with my town well defended and the post placed just across the street from the town hall, which can defend it directly from any raiders. Increased storage capacity is also a head scratcher since the building shows no visible storage limits and I haven't come across any so far at any point.

That leaves the vague but intriuging "better more specialized merchants"
Better how?

Anyone got any input on how these upgraded merchants work more specific than this one nebulous phrase, and whether they are worth the upgrade cost, since they seem the only potentially worth it benefit?

Depends on what you have to sell. One is usually interested in furniture and also to get to T4 housing you need spice which can only be bought by a trader who comes to an upgraded trading post. Also iirc you need the upgrade to have traders offering preserves for sale if you can't/don't make those yourself.

i've started making preserves in the last year or two but the bang for the buck so far is questionable.

The upgraded trader brings 3 merchants instead of 2 per year, so more goods to sell/buy.

Yes, that too and sometimes you even get 4 per year.

year 21 on my current game finding not a ton of stuff they bring i want to buy, nor tend to have what they are looking to buy at premium in any kind of quantity. mostly just looking to stock up a bit on stuff i tend to run low on to create a buffer and cut down on the need to shift workers so much.
