Way to recover graveyards?
Graveyards are a quite harsh permanent map modifier, if you've just randomly placed one for an early game death or something and then you need it to be 1 tile away or you have to reposition your entire town.

I know it's a bit of an extreme theoretical example, but graveyards are completely uninteractible and are a permanent blocker on the map for future development, also, in theory - in a super long game - since you either face rats around the corpses or burry the dead, it's essentially a timer on how long you can play the map, since at some point, it will all be filled with graveyards.

It would be great to have a way to recover the land in some way.

Devs are looking at ways to be able to move them, but when that may come to the game we'll have to wait and see.

This is a very real issue as Villages get larger. As you noted at some point the entire map will be a cemetery. Earth faces the same dilemma but we have options ranging from Cremation to Sky Burial where the vultures do the cleanup work. There are cultures where the dead are placed in Colosseum like structures and vultures take care of the rest.

I would hope the devs recognize this and have plans to mitigate the endgame of tombstoned out. My preference would be for an additional Tier, maybe around 600 population and maybe even with a certain number of graves required to prevent rushing to pop to the Tier. At this level add a crematorium that used firewood or coal and can handle a set number of bodies per month depending on the level it is at.

I am at just under 800 population and it seems I am stuck there. I dont believe immigration scales in line with deaths from ever larger raiding parties and disease nor do births with increased population. I have over 1K available for housing, food is always available yet population just quit growing.
"Mistakes were made and you buried grandma right outside the compost yard (or maybe this was your evil plan all along?!). You feel guilt swelling up inside you and you want to relocate that graveyard.
We hear you on this one.

Some method of moving the graveyards would be nice. We’d like to come up with some kind of cost to doing so however as that should be a choice not made lightly. Perhaps a gold fee may suffice to pay off the local necromancers not to raid their supply.

Expect more on this in the future."

Population is capped at 1k atm to help with performance. Crate expect to remove it nearer to full release of the game.

Thats fine and game is slowing considerably as I approach 800 so I run it at 2x and live with the lag but the point was I am not to 1K and it appears I will never get there because immigration and births do not scale with the greater number of deaths as population goes up.

I have considered paying the ransom raiders to see if avoiding that inevitable bump in deaths will help that pop nudge closer to the 1K mark.

maybe after full the graveyard can be converted into...crop field

Graveyards cannot be moved (yet?). But you can build a new graveyard on top of the old one. I have a century-old town and only 1 small graveyard (60 squares or so). I just rebuild it once in 5-6 raids.

Not sure why they cant be reclaimed even for farmland. During the time this takes place people where buried either cloth or wooden box's. So they would all be decomposed after about 10 years. So just put a time of say 25 or 39 years after its filled , then it can be removed .

Disturbing the dead seems bad; Perhaps a catacombs building to upgrade a graveyard that has improved storage.

More than just move. Some way to burn corpse or have them come back to life as zombies to kill.

Cuz if the game wants us to use grave for every body that is buried, land space eventually runs out. So the game technically has a hard cap for land space that will be either be filled with Graves or corpse and rats.

New players always post this. Anyone that has played and started a new map learned not to build a graveyard too close to town. This is a noob post.

While this may seem like a Noob post at first glance about graveyard complaints, the rest of the discussion about Graveyard is somewhat relevant.

As I pointed out, (without exploiting the overlapping graveyard), you can run out of space eventually over time if you play the game long enough. High population count means more dead bodies to bury.

Why would it be a 'noob post'? I've built my graves far out of the own... there are other problems actually in that case; with enough time, I could have almost filled up the max size grave I've started to build outside of town (at map edge) WITH THE CORPSES OF PEOPLE TRYING TO BUILD IT!

It's like a 500 year town problem, yes but since graves are ultimately uninterractible currently and with higher population, the process only quickens, the map will quite quickly be filled either with unburried corpses or graveyards.

Putting this kind of hard-blocks on games will always make people feel bad about it in some way, even if it never truly affects their gameplay significantly, the potential is there.
(The same goes for all kind of hard-blocks for progression, but that's another topic - yes, i'm thinking about forced trade for heavy tools.)

Agreed!
Crate have already said they're looking at ways to be able to move them.
