Economy control?
Can I purposely throw my town into a recession? And then tax the hell out of my people on top of it?

Well, you could build a lot of buildings like the healer, theatre, defence towers, etc, which have a yearly cost, but if you don't keep your people happy they'll leave, the housing will fall into disrepair and you won't get any taxes to pay for it all.

I think the question is, will this have a communistical/monarchic type of economy or a capitalistic type of economy.
In other words, are all goods created by people transfered into your bank no matter what and are their belongings tied to your belongings or do you have to pay people for their work, buy their goods and is there some sort of external economy that you can influence but that also works without you doing something (where people have their own money and buy things from a market).

So do people have their own money to buy their own things, or do they get their stuff for free from my storages?

If the former, then OP could do what he/she wants.
Otherwise not, because then throwing your own people into a recession would mean to throw yourself into one, as the economic situation of both was tied together (communistic/monarchic approach).

Most games have a flat and simplistic economy, where people take supplies directly from your storage aka you have 100 bread and all your people feed from it.
But some games have a complex economic system, where you have workers create bread any you pay them for their work and then your bread is offered at a market to all your people and they can buy it with the money they earned from work.

The latter is far more fun, the former is easier to implement and manage.
I assume its the simplistic approach.

I hope it's like Ostriv where you basically set the type of economy you'll have just by adjusting rent, pay, and taxes.

I fear it will rather be like Banished in which you have just wares your produce for all to be accessed for free and money just being another resource you generate linear.
I prefer a complex economy where my people get paid and then have money to pay for the stuff i offer them.
But i just doubt it will be the way it works.
