Add Sand .. Soil Mixture (Crop Fields)

I have very clay heavy soil and moved the slider for +70 Sand on 3 fields,
to get most of the crop types to green areas.
There is about 400+ Sand sitting in my Stock yard now, but 3 years have passed and nothing got added.
Have plenty free workers, a wagon and the stock yard is not that far away.
So how does this work?

Adding sand or clay to fields has lower priority than harvesting wood and stone. Try removing harvest targets (harvest window and shift + drag). Your workers should begin carrying bags of it to your farm fields.

On the subject of wood gathering , you should build that tier 2 structure that let you have dedicated wood gatherer and stone miner so you dont have to drag an area for harvesting which will use laborer who better off be useful somewhere else .

totally disagree, that workcamp is just permanently taking people out of the labor pool so they arent free to do other work when required. If the working radius on the workcamps was maybe 4x or 5x larger than it is they might be worthwhile, but in my experience they're just a waste of resources and manpower

They still do wood gathering though and if a person is busy chopping tree then they cant do anything else among the labor job. Wood must flow in all the time to keep fire wood and plank production up .
And like the first person who answer OP . Wood chopping have higher priority than doing anything else . Your laborer wasting time chopping wood than perform other tasks . You need wood sure , but do you need the entire labor as wood cutter ?

Adding clay or sand to the soil definitely works when expanding one of the fields.
I regularly add clay or sand, and this addition only works when you expand at least one field.
Therefore, I lay the first three fields small, because I still have to expand them to add sand or clay.
