And like the first person who answer OP . Wood chopping have higher priority than doing anything else . Your laborer wasting time chopping wood than perform other tasks . You need wood sure , but do you need the entire labor as wood cutter ?
Adding clay or sand to the soil definitely works when expanding one of the fields.
I regularly add clay or sand, and this addition only works when you expand at least one field.
Therefore, I lay the first three fields small, because I still have to expand them to add sand or clay.
