Orchards & Apiaries - Suggestions

Working with Orchards is currently a bit tedious and requires lots of micro-management.
Thinking about « Life is feudal », we were able to create orchards by simply dragging a field (similar to how farms currently work).
It would be great to have that feature instead of having to click each tree one by one. We could always place one tree, but if we drag, then we get increments of 2x2 for each additional tree. And of course have the arborist replant the dead trees if possible.

Apiaries also are a bit weird at the moment (i am sure that has been raised before). They should be actually grouped together rather than standalone (we could have a «drag a surface» feature for apiaries too), and having them placed near berry farms or orchards should really boost their productivity, and that of the neighboring trees.

Hmmm im fine with what we have now. The only thing bugging me is it lags every time i put a tree down the orchard. If its butter smooth, i wouldnt mind tge little micro

I'm fine with plopping tree by tree.

Apiaries should both derive and provide a bonus, though. Orchards and fields under an apiary influence should get a yield boost.

It takes about 30 seconds to place all the trees down. Is that to tedious for you?

Planting when u start is not the main issue as much as replanting each dead tree, especially when u have a lot of them. Every year or so u need to fly through all your orchards to replant where is needed. I also use single fruit trees as decorations within the center of the town as they look quite nice, but then again, need to replant them every now and then. So yeah…

The trees that die are not in the circle of the orchard and will not be harvested. Planting outside the circle is a wast of time. You plant outside the circle and then complain why the trees die. I think the circle can hold about 44 trees.

And i never said that the trees within my city are outside circles. ;-)

Turns out that you are correct.
Peach trees if planted in prime soil inside the circle will last 300 months.
Pear trees will last 680 months.
Apple trees last 800 months.
I noticed this on the tool tip info when you choose a tree to plant. If the soil is less ideal then the tree will die sooner.
