Arrows and Bows
Hi there
Is there a way to put a limit on how many arrows and bows should be crafted?
I end up with my storage places full of arrows and the only way I found so far is micromanaging the worker on and off the fletcher building.

There is an effective work around to set production limits at the moment. Allowing a resource to be only stored in one storage place. Just make a warehouse that is ticked only for arrows, and untick arrows in every other warehouse, problem solved, no micromanagement necessary.

I don't think so. The only way is turning the build on/off or using the sliders for priorities like zeroing them, but the first option is better(build on/off).

Typically you do an inventory report every year or so, if you notice you're making double of your consumption then turn off a building or take one villager out. Just your typical maintenance in a game like this.

I think the devs are going to add production limits eventually.

Yep production limits are a future feature. Micromanaging is the only way atm. For other goods its not an issue for overproduction as you can usually sell the excess to a trader. But bows and arrows are not a trade good.

If they are building too many arrows, shift their priorities to making bows (or preferably crossbows). You'll need a large supply of those once you start experiencing massive raids - along with the soldier deaths and destroyed weapons that comes along with that)

But a single warehouse can store more arrows than you could possibly use. All that does is not let arrows clog up other storage. You are still going to have to manually turn off arrow production after a while.

For now, build only one fletching workshop, and upgrade it when it is possible.

If you have too many arrows, set the production rate of arrow to zero.

About consuming arrows, just assign some hunters to consume arrows periodically, and build more towers instead of fort, because tower costs lesser than fort, and can handle predators easily.

There is not much things you can do to control that in better way currently.

Sure, you'll have a stock of 2000 arrows (costing 111 wood). Once it is full though the fletcher won't make any more unless they get used up, so you never have to actually micro it to adjust production. Marcuz was asking if there is a way to limit how many arrows should be crafted, the answer is yes, as long as the limit you want is 2000.

I appreciate your suggestion, yes 2000 arrows might be too much but is a nice workaround to set a "limit".

Thank you all

I think part of the problem is people over react when they see the "needs arrows" icon over lookout towers. In most cases peoples first experiences of red icon warnings warrant an immediate response to address a potentially serious issue.

Personally i think there should be a hierarchy for "warning" icons base on the impact its happening.

I don't need to see a red warning icon because 3 turnips rot in a field or spoiled in a cellar. Just give me a yellow hazard icon. But i definitely want to know if i lost hundreds of units of produce.

A yellow icon should indicate "resupplying" which is to say there is stock in storage, but not at the desired structure. A red icon should indicate there is no stock at the structure or in storage.

The same principle can be extended to industry manufacturing. I'd like a warning if one of my production facilities is entirely or even somewhat idle and not find out when i randomly click on it.
