Closing gates
The description talks about gates only being accessible to good NPCs... every time I've been attacked however, the enemy have come through an open gate. Is there not a way to close gates manually? It seems somewhat pointless to have them right now.

they shouldn't just walk through unless you have a cute little tower next to the gate where a wall would usually be because that creates a gap they can just walk through. Looks nice...absolutely not what you should do, sadly. other then that, its a bug they should close automatically..

Nope, its a fence in between a long wall on either side, nowhere near anything else...

my gates remain open all the time. I've never seen them close.

Odd they literally close automatically, you have a screenshot of the offending gate?

Reminds me of my ex-wife legs.

Mine close when raiders approach them but otherwise they're always open.

Are you sure you've built at least a palisade gate?
I don't think that tier 1 fences do anything to raiders despite their tooltip.

I built a Palisade/tier 2 gate after the last raid and not been raided again yet, so that may be it. They probably need to clarify as if the tier one does nothing its probably not worth spending resources on them, and instead just have a gap in the wall..? Thanks everyone for your responses nonetheless :) I'll keep you posted

I'm having a similar issue at the moment but with wildlife. I can't seem to close my gates off to them in my fenced-in crop fields. I even bothered to make the perimeter labyrinthine in nature so the critters would be thrown off by the maze of it all and still they march in single file and funnel right through into the entryway. They're relentless! Needless to say, it's been a real problem.

Gates don't effectively close, deer just don't go through them. And are you using actual fencing and not walls? Wall gates won't keep deer out far as I know, only raiders and predators.
