Medil Proving Ground Solo Mission?

Is the Medil Proving Ground meant to be a solo mission? I'm only able to pick one character when going into the mission and it seems insanely difficult. I looked on YouTube and the only video I can find of someone playing the mission has all five characters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc29bp8fvhQ&t=1313s

You only start with one, but the other four are in the level, pre-dead.

I'd highly recommend starting with Banks as the game defaults to.

I did it twice with Dall and it wasn't rewarding me confidence points... now I feel stupid

I had seen the bodies everywhere and thought 'oh, it will be easier with Banks ! But first I want to manage with Zan' or whatever. I feel so dumb hahaha, I could manage to reach tthe last level several times but couldn't survive the 10th turn, no matter what. I will try with Banks :')
