I'm with you. My favorite by a considerable lead. But its a combination of personality, powers and outfits.
Not that I dislike Zan. But he's at his best when bantering with Jen.
Her WIZTAC costume being the best, though? Did you just come in here and ask for a fight? It's just a ski outfit! No personality whatsoever. Banks' tactical kevlar dress is clearly the best. She does her hair up with bones and everything.
If you put Jen alone in a room, she'll really struggle to get anything done unless that room is 98% window, but she has powerful synergy with basically everyone else, which is what makes her fun to play.
Predictive Bolt not very useful when the only enemies that survive long enough to need it are mostly immobile? Knock an enemy into it with either +2 knockback upgrade.
Death's Door not useful on its own? You know a gal who loves pushing people through window-shaped holes.
Not enough run-up to get a good Charge on an enemy? Refresh your move with Gale Grenade, or slap some knockback on them to get more distance.
Spore Bomb not punching hard enough for you? Knock an extra enemy into the radius, or better yet, move Jen in there herself (preferably after the friendly fire upgrade), refresh her move with her basic attack (which can be at anyone), get the bomb off, then move her to somewhere more useful.
While the other wizards have support abilities, they mostly just do what they say on the tin. Jen has some of the more creative synergies in the gang.
For me it's point blank Static Blast that sends the enemies 4 tiles back and movement refund. She waltz through the stages sending enemies flying through windows and allies across the map.
But yes, that is an option.
Banks was easily my favorite by the end though. Infinite enemy to enemy transference is exceptionally busted, coupled with at-will defenestration, cross map movement, accessible AoE and unsteady.
Jen becomes one of my key setup characters in the late game in a very Into The Breach sense where she can use her mobility and spells to move enemies or friendlies around, or get herself or others into position for Dall to swap with.
Getting the angles right, static blast and chain bolt are both useful for nudging friendlies that little bit more to get their own angles or pick up mana, and gale grenade is just a great help for that last bit of movement.
