Well I wouldn't mind buying it again. I mean 8000 user is fine but I am certain youa lso need the money for living. and since we can get the game/program from itch, we pay for a different distributor which is totally fine. I do not feel the need to get a steam key just because I already have bought the software, I can always just download the software from itch.
Y'know. Support the devs and all.
If I do end up with a steam key from itch I'll donate it to a friend who lacks money and is great with art.
Bought a few game bundles on humble bundle (for far less than buying on Steam) and also got Steam keys. It can be done.
the humble bundle is a special contract with humble and steam he does not have tghat.
And small amount of keys are fine in the steam tos which is limited at 2355, if you go over that you need to tell steam why and accordingly to the tos giving out more than 8.000 free copys is not allowed.
why does everyone think they are entitled to a steam key? buy it on steam or don't is what I would say. of course I wouldn't mind a steam key myself but begging or demanding it is just a new low for everybody steam key was never promised and this software is not one you really need on steam. And the "Workshop" excuse is stupid you can use the workshop regardless and just download the mods yourself don't be lazy
Because the dev said Itch buyers would get a Steam key.
Next question?
If I did that, I would just need to e-mail 70 people (itch.io was really a small fraction of sales compared to my Steam sales... So you're looking to do real well on Steam.)
Oh thank you for that clarification I actually did not know that. I take back what I have said and apologies for my remark.
Well, I had no difficulty getting a key for Dicey Dungeons on Steam today and I purchased that on Itch.io. How is this different?
[/edit] 8000 is a lot. What about if you only redeem for people who directly ask?
Mac and Linux will come soon to steam

Having read that.
I'd like to do both. I'm going to double dip. And buy the game on Steam (again) because you're awesome and you've been *really* honest about the whole thing.
I'd also like to request my itch.io Steam key because I've an artistic friend who is flat broke and this would make her Birthday.
By doing this I'm offering you the fullest support I can, and I'm doing a little extra good and spreading your creation to someone who will genuinely benefit from it.
I'd like to thank you for making something truly special.
