What I like.
1. Artistic/Graphic of the game. It's cute that catch my eye. Animation is well done. Feeling when Berserker kick down the Knight and Long Axe Attack is satisfying. If can be improve like more variation in animation or more projectile feedback animation might be a cute addition.
2. Core system. The foundation of the game look great. Like
2.1 How we can name the gladiator, how we can leveling them put ability point, equip item.
2.2 The target priority addition from prologue is also nice thing.
2.3 Quest story with voice over is nice, and unexpectedly comedy fun.
What I expected in future
3. Core system to expand more
3.1.1 (minor stuff) Customize gladiator probably color, or if you generous variation style of the same class. Give more attachment to the gladiator.
3.1.2 (good to have) add/change/remove quirks/traits, change/upgrade class, acquire new skill
3.2.1 (good to have) Defensive strategy setting for gladiator (priority run over change to melee)
3.2.2 (minor stuff) or sophisticate logic priority, Thinking of something like what's in Dragon Age Origin. Like 1st priority Heal Tank when HP < 50% 2nd cast protect to self if enemy in 50m 3rd cast protect to tank
3.3 Already ready see somewhere that's you've mention Fraction Quest with special unit in the end so looking forward to it.
4. I'm assume that you have timeline system so that the management part of game will be something like developing over time style [like the Base part in XCOM] so.
4.1 (should have) More thing for us while we waiting next tournament.
4.1.1 it could be random generic quest that can show up forever. (Actually make a village in map that have helping board that refresh every week or something)
4.1.2 it could be a place where we can send our gladiator to train to get more exp, or do something like in my point 3.1.2 that gladiator will unable to use for few days or weeks
4.1.3 it could be a place to place some gladiator to work for some small of resources over time.
4.2 (don't know that it against your design or not) But as I've mention that this section remind me of XCOM so probably a tiredness, or wounded gladiator that take times to healed. And force us to use another roaster combination.
4.3 I already like that there is no time limit option (as default) like we can keep playing forever. However a Main Quest that come to drive the use of this timeline is acceptable for me. If I'm not good enough to prepare for this specific Main Quest that come at certain time will result in Quest Failed but I would expected to continue playing afterwards probably something is lost forever or the game getting harder [soft game over] but still can continue (same as if we finish the main quest)
* Pro player can have time limit to finish the game fast, or there can be a challenging achievement for those who love challenging stuff / achievements stuff
5. (minor stuff) More than Blue, and Red color
6. (minor stuff) For me the old guild building on hex grid (in prologue) look nicer than the current simple inventory view. Might be the current easy to build and upgrade icon but display as previous one?
What I've currently not like
7. (minor) UI should be improve.
7.1 I cannot drag open window, info of gladiator to have space to look for more stuff. The priority window will block the clicking unit be hide it (left top)
7.2 When click drag the unit specific priority bar, it trigger that unit info too often.
7.3 Tool tip for damage score is great. But tool tip for main stat is lacking info.
8. (not sure if it was intended) Gladiator AI My Archer isn't that smart. I give him much movement so that he should able to out run enemy into open space. Yet he try to escape backward into the corner and die without trying to side step a bit.
9. (good to have) If it was intending to be trial and error when we facing new unit we find the unit that counter them. Then a nice glossary that we recap the unit behavior might be a nice thing to have. I seriously have no clue that Pitchfork pleasant could be this strong. 9.2 Or probably I still didn't learn how to read the unit stat properly. A tutorial that involve how to read and compare stat would be nice.
(I played permanent dead so I need to buy meat bag to purposefully die a few times to see the enemy unit before I put my best trained unit out, but then at some point my resource is low that I can't afford it result in must skipping the quest)
10. Current ring of dead. I think it should refresh every thing each cool down. I think showing the difficulty in each choice might be nice addition (no need to show the unit).
Overall I like the game. My major point is the same as everyone else the point 4.1 that currently there is too much down time. But I understand that the content is still to come. Not sure that if you already mention about the plan for it or not. (I might skip some of the update)
edit: fixing format
Combat interface. I often ran into a situation where I wanted my army split into two groups to take out enemies in a specific order. With 9 fighters this would mean I would have to place the fighter (9 times), click the fighter( 1 time each (9+9)), now click on up to 9 enemies fighters for each fighter(9+9+9*9), costing me 99 clicks to set up a battle, not mentioning consumables or the fact I actually had to place my fighters spread out first to make them easier to select and reposition them once they had their priorities.
--->Let me drag select my units. Place 3 knights (3 clicks), select them(1 click), then let me hold shift and right click the enemies in the order they shall be slain(9 clicks). If I split my army into 3 groups I end up with (1+3+9)*3 clicks = 39 clicks. That would save me almost 2 thirds of my clicks and time in the later stages of the game, resulting in more time to spend on the fun part of the game.
1- Although i like it that we can choose where to spend the level up points, it's annoying that when you recruit a high level unit it comes with the points allocated, as a result the lower their level the better it is to recruit.
I suggest that recruited units come with unspent points instead of high stats.
2- There are too few options to recruit. About half of the options i don't even have the building, the other half have are simply bad because of bad traits/talents.
I suggest that only units that you are allowed to recruit (have the building) appear, and furthermore, the more buildings you have the more options you will have.
Something like 5 units of each building u have built.
3- A way to somehow change the traits/talents of a unit would be interesting.
Maybe "pay x remove a trait", "pay x add a trait" or "this item adds a trait"
4- I liked the demo that was available a while back where you could grind xp/equips as much as you wanted. Now you need to wait for events/weekly arena/montlhy championship. That waiting if pretty annoying.
Maybe make it so there are always events available?
Or remove the cooldown of the weekly arena?
Also, i cant wait for skill trees :D
I'd like to see a simple thing - color-swap skins for units or some other way to visually set them apart. I tried the 'custom head' thing and I'm not sure what it will become - is it supposed to be for modding (making heads that fit the outline)? If so, is there a template? I was hoping the image would appear in the list on the bottom, not the battlefield (where I can't do anything anyway) to help telling different units apart. So that would be a good thing to have for now.
Building where I can place gladiators when nothing is happening to gain passive XP. Expanding the resurrection building to have a 'cure affliction' ability (to remove injuries; things like 'broken ankle').
More team color options. A selection of ludus banners that can also be displayed during battle to make it feel more like competing against guilds. Ability to name my guild; randomized rival guild names to go with their banners.
Events to earn traits (elder vampire, faster regen,...) for selected gladiators.
1) Let us fight when we want. Either convert the daily arena or give us a new arena where we can grind. Especially once you beat the game.
2) Add the ability to get somehow get all of the Gladiator houses. At least let me choose the ones I don't want. Add more random quests to get non housed units, like the peasants. Would love to make an Undead Army
3) Multiple Saves. I would like to be able to load a different game or start a new game without wiping my progress. This really is the most frustrating one.
4) Ability to either train away, upgrade, or acquire new talents and remove bad ones OR give more units to purchase on refresh.
All in all, really do love the game. Great work!
"It's a cool fall day, +15% to Stamina" or something
-------------------------------
- be able to withdraw the penalties from the units (broken ribs, etc.) by leaving the units in a kind of hospital for several days
- be able to buy grimoires that give XP, or leave units in a particular building that gives XP over time
- new random events: save a hen, fight with obstacles in the arena, fight with bandits before arriving at the arena, go find one of our gladiators who has been kidnapped
- legendary items or consumables with exceptional magical power (electric storm, sandstorm, summons of a dozen skeletons / zombies) and which would cost a lot of money
- have pets equipables like objects
Buying a guy with an injury might be cheaper, but maybe you can't use him for a week while he heals?
It would be a great way to force more time/risk management. Do you dare risk your top guy with a tourney showing on the timeline, or send in the 2nd string and hope they can do it? Spend coin on upgrading that medicos for faster healing or buy that new gladiator etc?
I've accidentally clicked an unwanted answer a few times because the NPC ended their speech just as I impatiently clicked. With no manual save function, this is quite vexing.
- Train your fighters
- learn and delete Charakter specs
- traning fights more often
- maybe somewhat like Challenger Guilds in the Game you can coop or fight against
just the stuff i notice from first couple hrs of gameplay
Things I want to see improved:
Unlock more arena's.
More boss fights especially after you beat the last arena.
No waiting between arena's.
More different possitive traits.
