tips for gear

Hi,

I might be a real noob, but can anybody help me out with what to look for in loot. I don't understand most of the keywords. I finally think I figured out that shotgun means it will attack everybody.

I still don't understand why:
"Common shotgun anticlimax shorty holo shock m.3000 lvl 5"
is better than
"uncommon shotgun last long-mag holo m300 lvl.16"

The names and the descriptions are so long and with so many keywords that I feel totally lost in this loot system. I tried to use "auto-gear" but most of the time didn't like the results.

Has anybody tips for me?
normal encounters are not a problem because of the start with 50% sp, but bosses are, and not being able to save before a boss makes it even harder.
