Because it Bandai, nuff said.

Seriously though its because Japan does not see the Steam Deck as a Gaming Device. Most of the time they put in minimal effort into PC Ports for games as it is. Until the Steam Deck becomes popular in Japan dont expect them to put any effort into it. To them its just a gimmick and not worth the time or money.

"Not supported" doesn't automatically mean it doesn't run.

Just start the game in Desktop mode and it will run fine. After a first launch in Desktop mode you can also start it in game mode, but it will only run at ~40 FPS—this seems to be an issue with Gamescope.

(Note: The game is "unplayable" at != 60 FPS due to game logic being tied to the framerate)

Been playing it all the way through exclusively on Steam Deck...had some crashes but mostly been fine for me.

while in desktop mode change to full screen and then you can play it in game mode

tried looking for "fullscreen" in desktop mode but couldnt find it, ended up uninstalling and requesting a refund as ive had 45 mins of me trying to get the game working.

It's literally in the graphics options menu. It's a bit unintuitive since it's not accessible from the main menu.

i cant even CHOOSE a game to get to the graphics option menu

Why not? The game starts fine and visible in desktop mode on the Deck. From there you just select new game and follow the intro...

Hi! So I've managed to get it to work on mine with zero problem. As of roughly december, valves proton updates made it "kinda" work native on the Deck; all function but no image. After reading b/t here and reddit, i found a work around with a catch.
step 1: load the game on your pc.
step 2: progress to a point in free roam to access game settings menu.
Step 3: set "in game" graphics settings to 4k.
Step 4: game should now function on Deck with zero problems.

The caveat is they said to expect constant crashes, which CAN be true IF you are logged into steam actively on another device. Simply exit steam all the way and you're golden. I should mention i've only been on cyber sleuth so far, I hope this works for hackers memory too.

It's a PsP game ported to PC. If you're desperate....well, you could always just buy the PSP version and play that on your steam deck. :zaglol:

And before some prick mod decides that's "Illegal" and tries to silence me for mentioning the possibility of emulation:

"Reproduction of copyrighted material for personal or archival use is perfectly legal. Re-distribution of copies or public showings of the copies are where the copyright kicks in making such activity illegal."

THE ACT OF BACKING UP YOUR GAMES AND USING EMULATORS TO PLAY THEM IS NOT ILLEGAL. It's the redistribution / sale of those copies (Or the original after making a backup, as that's still effectively the same.) is illegal, and I am in no way encouraging that or that people download the .ISO files.

But if you were to legally buy a PSP game, rip it, and put it on your Steam deck for ease of play and do not turn around and re-sell the original, that's perfectly legal.

One issue with this is that the Vita Version, not PSP BTW, is not the Complete Version. You would not be able to get all the improvements that come with this version. I know to some that might not matter, but just wanted to FYI for anyone who may not know this.

Plus in the original Digimon Cyber Sleuth I believe some Digimon were pre-order bonus only, like these below:

- Costumes for Agumon modeled after Taichi Yagami, and the male and female protagonist of Cyber Sleuth
- BlackAgumon
- BlackGabumon
- Cherubimon (Vice) and Beezlebumon (Blast Mode)*

Those can never be obtained in the PS4/PS Vita without the pre-order bonus.

Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition is the best version. Has all the pre-order bonus, DLC and bonus.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory, the good thing about the complete edition is that the original game got the Hacker's Memory new Digimon.

Improvements? I played the Psvita version a few years back, what changed?

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Complete Edition ("CE") is a compilation that contains the following two separate games that were previously released on different occasions for the PS4 and PS Vita platforms (each is a full game):

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth ("CS");
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory ("HM").

By the time of HM's original release there was a large revision over the previously released CS version of the game, the majority of changes were documented below (I say the majority because there were later developments, such as new Digimon that were added in subsequent HM game updates):

http://www.digimonworld.org/2018/01/all-battle-mechanic-changes-in-hackers.html

[The CS from the Complete Edition is effectively an enhanced and expanded version of the original CS]

While the HM portion of the CE is generally similar to the international English HM that was released for the PS platforms, things are significantly different for the version of the first CS contained in the Complete Edition:

When compared to the original international English versions of the standalone CS, the new version of CS in this new CE contains the same revisions that were made for HM including newer features such as being able to alter the first game protagonists' outfit and most importantly: to play CS with newer Digimon that were introduced in HM, with the CE therefore making use of the latest game balance revisions as of the HM game;
Another feature that was implemented in this international Complete Edition was the ability to transfer Digimon between both the CS and HM contained in this CE version of the game, a feature that is made available after clearing both games at least once, so it's more relevant to a few of HM's Digimon that can't be accessed in the first CS right away while most of the HM Digimon can be accessed right away in the enhanced CS.

[The Complete Edition comes with a variety of DLC by default]

The CS - Complete Edition comes with a variety of DLC Digimon from the first Cyber Sleuth and the later Hacker's Memory games that are detailed below, as well as item + mission packs and outfits for our human characters (including for the protagonists of the first CS contained in this version of the game).

[DLC Digimon from the first CS]

Agumon (Blk) and Gabumon (Blk) lines {total of nine Digimon, originally pre-order bonuses};
Dianamon {originally post-launch free DLC};
Kerpymon (Blk) + Beelzemon BM {originally exclusively international English version pre-order bonuses};
Valkyrimon + ShineGreymon BM + Darkdramon + MirageGaogamon BM + Ravemon BM + Rosemon BM + Chaosmon {originally post-launch free game update add-ons}.

[DLC Digimon from the later HM]

Sistermon Blanc and Sistermon Ciel lines {total of four Digimon} + Crusadermon NX + Leopardmon NX + Omnimon NX {originally pre-order bonuses};
Alphamon NX + Gallantmon NX {originally paid post-launch DLC in international English versions};
Ryudamon line {total of four Digimon} + Apocalymon {originally post-launch free game update add-ons}.

The above lists are counting only DLC Digimon exclusively, and not the many other new Digimon that were included in Hacker's Memory's roster (and that in the Complete Edition can be retroactively used in it's own enhanced version of the first Cyber Sleuth).
