I've always liked Digimon, but never found games back in the days, I was more of a Nintendo kid and most of their games were on PS1. If anything I remember playing a little bit of a Digimon game where you were in a car at a friends house, Digimon Battle Spirit for the GBA, World Championship DS (This one was interesting), Dusk DS and even a card game on mobile that's just a tutorial and should be a full game.
There's gotta be a decent game somewhere. It pisses me off since Digimon is a good IP. They should have won the war, not Pokemon.
Yes I have played those, I even still have World Championship on the DS along with Dusk and one of the World Games that never got released outside of Japan. I have played almost every Digimon Game that has been released.
Now as to if any of them are "Good", thats going to be based on the type of game you like and how much you like Digimon. If you liked the idea of World Championship, but want a Story to it then Next Order might be more to your liking. If you want a more Pokemon one though this is honestly as good as it gets. Some might have some minor things they like from the DS ones more, but still they pretty much work the same.
Unfortunately us Digimon Fan have never gotten the same respect as other Franchises, like DBZ or Naruto, from Bandai. With how little they care we are lucky they even both giving us a Game anymore. Cyber Sleuth has been the biggest hit Digimon has even gotten and they still refuse to give the Devs a decent Budget or Marketing.
The Battles are like World Championship where they are AI Controled and you give them Commands as they Battle in a Limited Area. The Story is not as Visual Novel/Dialog Heavy.
It can get rather Grindy though as your Digimon have a Life Span and revert to Eggs after a period of time, and you then need to raise them back up in order to explore further. Honestly if you are not up for Grinding then stay away from any Digimon Game as that is always going to be something that is present.
It seems Digimon cannot take away from the grind due to the nature of it. Only thing I can do now is try the online scene for this game as PvP has always been fun for me for games like this, much how Pokemon sucks but the competitive scene is good.
I hope Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory have the same server for PvP, it would suck that everyone moved to Hackers Memory and no one plays Cyber Sleuth. And I hope the online is alive. I really don't feel like doing another awful story just so I can do PvP, at least until my brain has forgotten how awful it was.
