(spoilers) Questions about Hacker's Memory ending

There were quite a few things I did not understand when watching a playthrough of this game, I'd appreciate it if someone could clear these up for me!

1. How does erasing Eden from the new world save Ryuji's parents and make it so Erika wasn't even born?

2. What the heck even happens to Erika/Hudiemon at the end?

It seems like in the new world "Erika" doesn't exist. But the blue butterfly at the end looked like it has something to do with Hudiemon from the rewritten world.

3. So rewriting the world is not like going back in time, rather the "new world" currently running along with the same digital world that Hudiemon is in from the overwritten world?

4. The wiki page says that Hudiemon used the world data to create her own reality where Erika can live with Hudie members like normal. If that is so then how does the butterfly at the end tie in with that?

From what I understood and remember, I could be wrong since my last played was on Feb 2021 and I did not read any wiki / lore about this series.


1. The creation of Eden (Exposure of Digimon World) is tied to that accident so if they manage to avoid it, then that timeline / incidents won't happen

2. They remain to survive in Digimon World (to be found out again) if the people in current time discovers a way to Digimon World

3. I think you are right on that with the point from 4. otherwise Hudiemon will not exist

4. I recall there is no scene Erika lives with Hudie members like normal, due to Erika is converted to Hudiemon in order to live digitally and re-write like 3.

1. eden was keeping erika alive, so if it doesnt exist she dies in the car crash with her parents. removing eden didnt remove erika, she removed herself from existence so then her parents didnt get into a car crash as they didnt have to drive her to school that day. so basically, it was technically her fault her parents died.

2. she went to the digital world with the protags digimon

3. mother eater (the final boss of the previous game) erased eden from existence after time travelling basically. so the timeline is different because of that. erika had nothing to do with it, the bad guy of the previous game did it and it effected HM too. if you played HM and not CS, you werent meant to do that you were meant to play this after HM.

4. she basically just created fake versions of her friends and lives with them in the digital world. the butterfly you see is erika checking in on the real versions to see how theyre doing.
