Have you tried starting the game in Desktop mode instead of Big Picuture? I found one instance for another game where that apparently helped.

In general this sounds like a specific software issue of the Steam Deck. The game itself is known to run just fine on Linux via Proton.

There a site that can help make games run on the steam deck “ https://www.protondb.com/
Search for the game you want to play on the deck and follow the instructions and some of your games should work on the deck.

I hope that helps ?????

Actually just starting it up in desktop mode worked! unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in the gaming mode on the Deck just yet, but it's working fine in desktop mode so we have a workaround for now. Hopefully they fix it for gaming mode since it's easier to start up there.

Good to know, now that I thought about it I realized I can just reproduce the issue by using Big Picture mode.

Apparently the game fails to obtain focus on Linux.

I'm using proton Proton-GE 7.9. Don't know if my method work on official proton

1. Run steamdeck in desktop mode and launch the game
2. Start a new game or load a save file
3. once you can reach the settings go to the graphic settings and enable fullscreen
4. save settings and exit everything go back to gaming mode !
5. The game works juste fine now !

this works great! I tried it with the default proton and it still works fine. Hopefully the devs can set it to run fullscreen by default and that should resolve the issue for anyone trying with a Deck.

It's so odd to be that this is currently "unsupported" on the steam deck given the fact I've played this game on my Vita lol, makes no sense.

The game is most like "unsuppported" due to the problem laid out in this thread. It doesn't prevent the game from being played, but it prevents the game from reaching the levels required to be validated.

I've seen whispers online that this is due to some dumb and not very typical coding of file/folder structures for the game that Valve may or may not be able to tinker with.
Glad its working in desktop mode but im praying its working in game mode before I get my deck.

@『Yoshi278』 it works in game mode, if you start it up once in desktop mode start a new game long enough to get to the options, then select fullscreen on the options and exit. after that the game will run on game mode fine, so a little bit of work in desktop mode to start but no issue after that.

While this works, has anyone had the game run at over 30fps in Deck Mode? At 30fps, the character moves extremely slow, and I cannot get the framerate above 30 whatsoever, which is ridiculous.

^ useless comment that adds nothing to this discussion, especially after we have already worked out how to get the game working.

Many, if not most of "unsupported" titles actually work fine on the deck, just maybe with a little tweaking. If you want to use the compatibility listings as the only guide on what to play then great for you, but for anyone wanting to get the most out of our devices we can keep sharing helpful advice on threads like these.

The same thing happens to me. The game works fine in battles, cutscenes, menus etc, but the MC moves at half speed through the world. Nothing else is slowed down (the music plays fine while moving, for example), it's just that it takes the double amount of steps to get from point A to point B, compared to how it moves in my main PC.

I've tried using Proton Experimental, GE, older versions, switching from full screen to borderless window, but nothing has worked so far.

You can avoid all the desktop hassle by going to steam settings and set the launch command to -fullscreen
