Accidentally started hackers memory first, does it matter too much?
got about 8 hours in to HM, without realizing it wasnt the first one, should I stop and start cyber sleuth or can I carry on without knowing the story from that one

They are mostly separate, but a few things might not be entirely clear if you haven't played the first game, since the games's stories overlap. Since the idea is to play both games anyway, there's no real problem with starting HM and then playing regular CS

awesome thanks, I was wondering who K was, keeps hinting that I should tell the group about him but I have no idea who he is myself, didnt know if this was an issue of not playing CS or not

Don't worry about that part, K has no part in the story for Cyber Sleuth. K is a character that is only relevant for Hacker's Memory.

I would honestly suggest playing CS and deciding whether to play Hacker's memory after that. For me, I regretted playing Hacker's memory at all as the characters and setting have huge problems and contradictions to the original CS. However, if you play CS and are not terribly invested in the story you can play Hacker's memory and it would make the most sense.

Im about 20 hours in to HM, most got a lot more time logged for letting the farms afk, will have a break at after I finish and do CS at another time

half of HM makes no sense without CS and keep in mind, HM towards the end tells you massive spoielrs about CS as you were supposed to know said spoilers. playing HM first, then CS later will spoil CS's biggest plot twists. all of them.
