Lack of an English dub
So what was the excuse that Bandai Namco pulled out of their hat for not including an English dub in this game? Was it greed, was it laziness or perhaps a combination of both those things?

The game most likely didn't have the budget available for an english dub. That would be the safest bet.

Bandai Namco was testing the waters for Digimon games outside of Japan, so they apparently weren't confident enough to justify the high costs of of dubbing the game.

For next 0rder they did add an English dub, so upcoming Digimon games will probably be dubbed as well.

Be glad we got to play the game outside of Japan, Digimon has lots of games that won't launch worldwide, so having it is nice enough.

Why should I jump with joy when companies become greedy for no real reason? The English voice cast exists for a reason and that reason ain't for Bandai to ignore them.

Pure and utter greed as expected. No surprise there really.

But when it came to dubbing it in Japanese then they magically were willing to open their wallets. Oh well weird choices are made at every company at some point I guess.

Have you seen the typos in the game? Obviously due to laziness.

A game originally intended exclusively for the Japanese market getting a Japanese dub isn't magic, it's a fairly simple business decision.

So while Bamco is making plenty of very weird or obviously bad decisions—including their loacalization strategy–, them skipping an English dub for this game isn't really one of them.

If you still like a dub you could hire people to create a mod for it. The tools are available. ;)

How is that greed? It's a business strategy, and a good one to be honest.
Do you want more Digimon games? Then you better hope this one does well, and you know how it will do well?
By earning way more than they spent on it, they're testing the waters, if they see a good market in america then most likely they'll throw dubs in them. Keep supporting them and you'll eventually get what you want.
In the meanwhile you could ask for mods, as Syd stated before.

I suggest doing research on how much english VA end up costing for companies. They are far from cheap compared to JP voice actors, and some can run tens of thousands of dollars more than JP voicing.

Pretty much anything else has already been mentioned.

to OP,

just because this game don't have any English Language Dubbed

then you come here and "rant about it".

and you go and badmouth the game too.

i can tell you bought the game, then after learning that there is no "english language dubbed" at all, you uninstall it and asks for "refund".

you should be happy that there is "english language subbed" which is more than enough.

there are plenty of people who play this game or that game and they don't mind whether it got "english language dubbed" or not at all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

you OP go and "judge" the game based on "language" shows that your judgement is extremely poor.

I can tell that you're too biased to discuss this matter with. You're clearly ignorant and somehow believe that Bandai being greedy and charging full price for minimum effort is somehow okay when it's not. Having 2 dubbed languages to choose from wouldn't hurt this game at all. In fact it can only get better because of that. But you're choice to remain ignorant I guess. Just don't smear it all over my discussion posts. It's not needed here.

If they won't support the English voice cast then why should I be supporting a company with such mindset? When they put effort in they'll get money out. When said effort is deemed lacking they won't get money. It's that simple. I ain't gonna blindly throw money at them hoping that they'll one day quit being stingy.

So what? This ain't some poor indie studio we're talking about here. Bandai namco has the money to pay for an English dub but won't do so cause they don't care.
Syd Montague Mar 14, 2021 @ 3:41pm
Why do you care about a English dub even? Why not a Spanish or German one?
