Unplayable
I've started Chapter 4 and went to the Shinjuku subway to continue the story. After the cutscene with the creepy man following Ami and Guest , I can no longer enter battles or move to next area as the game crashes.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I have already verified all files and everything is good. Still no luck. I rolled back my video driver to prior version to check that, no luck.

UPDATE:

I was still unable to go into battles and enter into the next screens and as such, I figured I had nothing to lose... So I started "Hackers Memory" and saved onto the same file with my regular and logged into the original file and Boom, I was able to play again.

I guess it was a glitch. No more crashes.

Have you seriously tried restarting your pc? Like I hope you understand yesterday I was playing, closed the game then it wouldn't launch a second time. Restarted my pc and the problem vanished and hasnt come back. Apologies of this didn't help.

Do you get any error messages when the game crashes?

Also, please check the Windows Event Viewer (evntvwr.exe) for information about the crash. That could help a lot finding the problem.

I did check the event viewer and it sure is the application itself causing the crash. no idea how to fix.

The information in the event log could help locating the issue, if you're willing to share it.

I don't really know what TO share, let alone what I should share. :(

Whatever the error message says would help, especially crash offsets. I can't help you if you don't want to share.

Interesting, the error seems to indicate the crash is happening inside the Nvidia driver.

Given that you already checked your driver this is probably caused by a bug in the game itself. Unfortunately the crash log doesn't give further information about what exactly the game tried to do and I wouldn't know how to extract it easily remotely. :/

Does the crash happen consistently, preventing you from proceeding the game?
If you have an integrated GPU on your CPU it might be worth a try with that one to get past that area...

Edit: Seeing the update I'm glad you got it to work. I hope we find the root cause of the bug eventually.

Long story short, yes, it did happen every single time.

It started when I went into Ch.4 subway area and proceeded downstairs and just after talking to the creepy guy that was following us. I had to go to work, so I saved and exited the game.

After that, I started the game from where I was and tried to go downstairs to go further into the dungeon and as soon as I transitioned, the game crashed. I tried loading the game again and found that I couldn't even enter battles, as they would crash the game too. I tried using the exit gate item to escape the dungeon and was unable to, as it would crash the game too.

I do hope this post helps anyone else that encounters this issue.

Has a reliable fix been found for this bug yet? I've tried everything above to no avail (on average how long did each of those it worked for have to play Hackers Memory for before it started working?

This has happened to me twice so far for my playthrough and mainly in that one area. After that, I have not had any issues.

I did start a brand new Hacker's memory file at the time, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Now just to be sure... did you go into the hackers memory save file and play it a little and then save the game before heading back to cyber sleuth? If not, try that. I'll keep this thread open as long as people still have this issue.

At this point I've played give or take 3 hours worth of Hackers Memory but it still crashes when anything forces it to leave the open world map (battle, item or walking to the next area)

My Latest update, i played through and tested after Chapter 4 in Hackers Memory (where you visit the station) and it's now working and let me past "the room of death crashes" thanks all for the help
