Controller for PC/laptop

What is the best controller to play this game? I am currently using the keyboard config on my laptop but could use some help to get a controller to play the game a little better.

Any should work. I'm using a PS3 controller, but a 360, PS4 or xbone would work just as well. Not sure about Switch, PS5 or newest xbox one, those might have some problems being recognised by Steam.

Lets say I got the Xbox controller Because Im basing it off on the configuration on the default, How do I sync it or does it do it automatically?

I've used a ps4/ps5/xbox one/switch pro controller on steam, I have them physically plugged into my computer using usb cords, and they normally work automatically. If they aren't working then you can check the settings in the top left of the steam launcher click on steam > settings > controller > general controller settings, and you can check mark the controller you want to use and it should show you the controler under the "detected controller" on the bottom left.

Pretty much all games I use show the xbox controller dialogs regardless of what controller I use tho, so say if you use a playstation controller the dialog will still say "x", when it wants you to use the square button.

I actually use the steam controller. Any contoller will work fine but you will have to get used to the PS config as it can be wonky and key binding may not fix it depending on the game.

I've been using a PS4 controller, a third party Nintendo Switch pro controller and a 3DS. The 3DS is way ahead because of its simple layout and due to the fact I'm used to it more than the others. However, this game doesn't require any sort of precision nor fast reactions, so you should be good with anything as long as it's functional.
