So, how do you choose who you want to be on your team?
is it just me who just went with the original digidestined team?

Nope! It's not just you! A friend of mine did the same.

Me, I base it all on how cool I think they look. :VBCOOL:

A mix of nostalgia and looks if I am playing casually. If you intend to play on Hard you absolutely have to use INT or DEF piercing/ignoring attacks. Lilithmon/Beelzemon/Rosemon BM all have that. Abilities are also very important. Some are so powerful it is a no-brainer to bring them. The AI in Hard can downright cheat, and using nostalgia-mons won't get you far. Not unless you reset millions of times, have a well trained full team, and tons of spare healing/power up items.

I went with mons I think are really cool, then I found out about INT or DEF piercing attacks.
And three of the mons I wanted anyway already have those. Beelzemon/Lilithmon/Gallentmon is my team. It's pretty good, with Lilith to nuke groups or heal, and Gallent and Beelze to do good damage.
I also got Lilith and Gallent to have Character Reversal, to counter the "Whoops all Viruses" aspect of this team.

Style factor. If your look doesnt please me, you're getting digivolved in another direction
At first, I used the ones I knew. Then I wanted to use some that looked cool that have attacks that hit everything, because I thought it'd save time with random encounters. Then I went for good looking ones that had INT or DEF penetrating attacks, because I didn't want to deal with enemy stats. And Mastemon, because that one is OP for boss fights where the boss has a lot of HP.

I used to gather Adventure and Tamers mix of a team, but eventually some digimon started to fall off to a degree, MegaGargomon is probably the worst offender, at least Sakuyamon has buff canceling signature move and Duke/Gallantmon doubles as Royal Knight. WarGreymon has very nice signature attacks, ditto with MetalGarurumon. Imperialdramon line feels like a must for Function Call lvl.2 for grinding.

I just stick to PlatNume & PlatSuka for EXP, managed to use them in boss battles and reach Chapter 11 so far..
