and while i don't hate meicoomon like a lot of people do, I quite love the design, the issue is how she's portrayed in tri along with her human partner who is pretty much the typical shy anime girl
there was just never no reason to care about any of them
Though I do think Tamers is overrated.
it wouldn't get a sequel if it was hated (the kizuna movie)
Digimon adventure 1 is digimon for me,
idk season 2 was nowhere near as good as season 1 or tamers.
they had to cut corners and scrap entire plotlines that never got resolved and numerous plot holes.
season 2 was fundmetially flawed because of core issues of cut plotlines
one of the bigger ones being the Dark Ocean plotline remains unresolved to this day.
the best digimon watching is Season 1 and Tamers they are equally good for there own reasons.
adventure 2 for me is down near the bottom just above Xros wars and frontier with frontier being dead last
granted season 2 is still watchable when compared to digimon frontier, but that's a rather low bar.
maybe they will fix these plot holes with the aventure remake, but from the looks of adavntures remakes i allready have issues with it (such as being able to digivolve to Omnimon within the first 3 episodes.)
and this is coming from some one who grew up watching all the seasons on there release day.
so don't try the "You only like tamers because you watched it first" card with me.

Data squad is miles above tamers in terms of story and plot.
Again i grew up with Adventure 1 learn to read.
the digimon were made from cards and data to begin with in tamer. his drawing was broken down into data just like the cards were. which are also "drawings." Also you forget that it didn't just take his drawing but his entire note pad of information that he had all the statistics and stat information he made for it as well. it wasn't just the drawing. your attention to detail is questionable if you watched it twice but some how never notice the written information on the notepad which is shoved in front of the screen several times.
02 doesn't acomplish anything new compared to tamers or adventures it's literally retreading ground adventure 1 did.
first half instead of gears it's just rings that did the same thing as gears only replace devimon with a human who has slightly better characterization then devimon. However that at the cost of applying the warf effect to every single one of 01's original cast
the most well done story arc 02 got was the arc with black war greymon but even that created a massive plot hole with season one as the Destiny Stones was apperently there before the events of 01 made to prevent digimon from going to the real world, but clearly that wasn't the case because back in 01 digimon could cross over to the real world just fine (such as agumon parrotmon, myotismon and his band of goons.) with the Destiny Stones not even being broken yet.
02's final arc asspull of oh look it is myotismon in the human world again. again wooo how original.
instead of using all the plotlines they built up with things like Dragomon
not to mention that besides a few exceptions (such as the digimon emprorer and returnee's from season 1) most the new cast of 02 sport some of the weakest motivations compared to both tamers and 01 hell i respect data squad's cast more then 02's cast characterization
digimon tamers ending was actually rather solid it wasn't a happy go lucky ending but a more bitter sweet saved the world at a price.
but as to your original question no Tri was good, not as good as 01 (kinda hard to compete with war game as far as movies go.) and Tamers which had a more ground storyline while using meta elements, but still better then a lot of people make it out to be. enjoyed it more then things like Xros wars, frontier and whatever the heck Digimon Universe: App Monsters was
At least with season 2, the Digital world was already a thing. I took tamers almost a whole f#cking series to even get to the digi world.
Also the whole kid makes a digimon thing was totally stupid and is basically a cheap story line a child would make.
The characters in tamers were basically as fake as characters can be, At least adventure knew how to use characters effectively instead of each character being the same character with a slight difference in attitude.
Also one of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things about tamers was the fact that the digi-world was man made.

Tri did a better job at characterisation.
hardly the story of digimon tamer was very solid. starting out on introducing the characters there motives and conflicts with the first arc. then moving to the main plot on the second with with the dava's and there conflict with humans rebelling against there creator.
introduction of the digital world early or later on not indicative to good story telling in a series. by your own logic the war game movie and the first digimon movie were bad because it didn't take place in the digital world but in the human world and on the internet. which is silly.
Also it didn't take a whole series the digital world arc took up the entire 2nd quarter of the series,
you not liking a plot element doesn't mean it doesn't make sense within the series you've goal post shifted to the digimon drawing not making sense in the constraints of the world building tamers had to just not liking it.
also your "basically a cheap story line a child would make." geez childish things in a Children show which every single digimon series has what a nightmare. If i didn't know better i would think that all the Digimon show's main demographic is children/s
also tamers had some of the most realistic characters more so then 02 or data squad.
Ruki's (rika if in english) character is completely different from Takato there motivations and personalitys and motivations are completely different which is why they clash in the first season. same with Lee(henry if in english)
i'll take there starting off points just to point out how not at all similar to each other they are.
ruki being cold and aggressive to the extreme to the point that she locked away any feeling and the idea of forming attached frightens her due to past experenice.
Lee being more philosophical, with a pacifist nature that boarders on cowardness early on he is fightened of fighting at all because hes afraid of people around him getting hurt.
takato starts out as naive and curious with the most friendly demeanor. but is willing to put up a fight when people are in danger or when threaten rather then avoid it out right like lee. However, he doesn't actively seek it like Ruki.
i don't know how you think the three main characters are anyway similiar to each other other then they are all kids that have digimon which would extended across all of digimon.
oh boy more "i don't like it so it's bad."
the digital world being man made worked for that series as digimon were created by humans.
it fits a narrative how artificial life will eventually find it's own path and change out of control of those that created it. one of the major themes in tamers was the creation rebelling from being controlled by the creator.
Starting to doubt that you actually watched the series these"criticism" are so faulty that i almost believe you just read the wiki page rather then watching the series.

Then get's mad that people dare to think for themselves and counter your argument instead of agreeing with everything you say. for what holding a conversation on a board that anyone is allowed to respond to this is steam forums not your personal yes man board. people are going to disagree with each other on things. Thats just reality.
