Should I be playing Hacker's Memory First?

Never played these two before but I knew Cyber Sleuths came out first so I started it and am on Ch 4 on hard mode, but I noticed one of the evolution prerequisites for a digimon I had was "Clear Hacker's Memory".

I assumed I should have played Sleuths first and that HM would be a "step up" in gameplay so I should play it last, but now I'm wondering if chronological order was the better way to play and if this digimon I could get is something reasonably helpful or for cheesing CS just in case I beat HM first and if the same evolution is in HM with a "Clear Cyber Sleuth" prerequisite.

Up 2 you I guess. The Digimon that is locked behind hackers memory wasn't in the original of the base game some years ago when it came out. To my knowledge this is a complete edition - only feature. Since HM extended the roster by about 1/4, it's better to play the OG and then HM to understand the story a bit better, if this isn't your biggest purpose then go and play hackers memory first, since those 2 games are happening simultanously, it's not a big loss, and if your collection desire is greater, go for HM first.

no, hackers memory is the sequel. they back ported the new digimon into the first one for this version, so that includes the locked ones to post game. playing HM first would be super confusing

15 Digimon are locked behind HM, but all the other Digimon in HM are in CS for this release.

You can't get Hudiemon and the Arkadimon line, as they're locked behind completing HM. You also can't get the Agunimon and Wolfmon lines (excluding Flamon, Strabimon, Aldamon, Beowolfmon and the Ancient Digimon, as they're not in the game), since spirit evolution is only in HM.

You should play Cyber Sleuth first as far as the story goes.
