The more I play the less I have to complain about
Seriously game starts out pure trash. So much cutscenes and dialog. But then u play more. U get more cool digimon. More cool hacker abilities. More crazy stories. Tbh slow start but once u get midgame and later it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. Can't wait for the x anti body story game coming 2020

I have 2 real complaints.

1 and more importantly: I feel like they stripped a lot of the interesting mechanics with stats from the series. I vastly prefer Digimon World DS/Dawn/Dusk (Which are actually the first Digimon Story games.) to Cybersleuth. You gain bonus stats just from leveling, so you always have incentive to keep digivolving, since it helps you raise stats.

In Cybersleuth, there is no point in Digivolving backwards except if you really, and I mean really, want to build movesets. Otherwise you gain nothing for doing it but ABI, which is just an arbitrary limit that honestly shouldn't even exist anymore when stats don't carry over. You don't even keep stats gained from levels when digivolving, so even when digivolving into a higher tier you end up weaker again.

That and the Digifarm is just more annoying to use. I don't understand why they thought making it manual, instead of passive, was a better idea. In Digimon World DS/Dusk/Dawn you don't have to order your Digimon to train. They do it automatically. The only manual part is if you wanted to train extra stats by visiting the farm yourself, which you can completely skip as it's not required. You will gain more stats simply by leveling anyways.

In Cybersleuth, every 30 mins to 2 hours you have to return to the DigiFarm to tell them to train, or else they do literally nothing at the farm. To make it worse, they are pretty much the only way you're going to build bonus stats, aside from ABI bonuses which don't come till late game.

2: The translation for the Western version is literally the worst translation in a video game that I have ever paid for in over 25 years of playing video games.

Otherwise it's a bog-standard JRPG with Digimon slapped onto it. Not much to complain about there, other than it doesn't do much to separate it's self from other JRPGs.

For me personally, I'd rather play games with more interesting mechanics. Like Digimon World DS and Dawn/Dusk.

I got tired of characters speaking longer than the text shows up and taking pauses before saying the whole dialogue. They might as well have just made it completely visual novel style and gave us the option of Auto Talk.

I ended up missing the voiced dialogue because i thought they were done talking. I started to just press continue once i finished reading the text.

Actually they train stats up to a overall limit which is determined by your ABI and lots of higher tier digimon require training in certain stats (eg lucemon, lilithmon) so basically if they'd just passively train their stats on the digifarm you'd have to buy loads of stat reductions since otherwise you might end up with something like a Angemon with +50 attack and +300 HP. And they still gain exp although very slowly. And the translation is nowhere near as bad as people claim it to be. Its perfectly understandable and the only weird thing about it was the 3 choices being on big sentence. Hackers Memory translation was perfectly fine i dont remember encountering any real error there. I do have to say i also liked the Dawn/Dusk games system more since tbh i just made a team of adorable digimon like Terriermon who wreck everything

You're just making my point for me with the first part of your comment. They don't gain stats in most cases, DigiFarms are where a vast majority of their bonus stats come from, and then you even have the dumb mechanic of having to lower stats in order to meet some requirements.

In my opinion all of that is just backwards from what they started with in Digimon World DS and Dawn/Dusk. It feels nerfed and stripped down by comparison, and gave less reasons to use existing mechanics like Digivolving.

As for the translation, it's horrible. If you play as a female character you are called a boy or have dialogue that assumes you're male all of the time. This also happens to other characters as well, such as almost every character in one of the Eater outbreaks being called a "She" even when their models are clearly male. It's a copy-paste message too, which makes it look incredibly lazy.

There are also parts of the story that make no sense to me anymore the further I go in, because more and more often characters just spit out word salad that doesn't make grammatical sense. The Digi-Line texts often do not make grammatical sense. Not to mention mistranslations that cause the story and world to make less sense. Such as Galacta Park being a non-translation of the Japanese word for "Junk" or "Trash".

You also have characters talking to themselves because they claim to have the name of the person they're talking to, thanks to poor translations not having the correct grammar.

stats dont increase by going up and down any more because bandai no longer want all digimon being 999 due to online PVP

Sure, and for me personally that was a bad trade. I don't really care about PvP and I don't expect a lot of people to actually being playing it for long.

Other people will feel differently. Cybersleuth just doesn't feel like a game for me, and I hope they'll make something more similar to DS and Dawn/Dusk again.
