DMW3 also had a whack ass digivolution system. In the beginning, it made sense. You had Agumon get Greymon and Metal Greymon, and Guilmon go to Growlmon and Wargrowlmon. All good, right?
But then you unlocked actual rookie forms. So even if you chose Guilmon as your starter, you could digivolve him into Agumon and learn Agumon's entire digivolution tree. What does this mean?
There were no unique digimon. You have 3 digimon in your party that could all be WarGreymon if you wanted it to be. Which means your starters have no meaning or personality or any type of uniqueness to them.
I'm hoping that's not the case in this game.
Sort of. In this game, digimon families are based on the baby form. There is some cross-over with mid-stage forms, so with enough finagling, you could turn any one digimon into any other. It would take a lot of work though, and for the most part they stay within their respective families.
At least these ones are can't say the same for every fusion like examon he really is trash wish it had waay more stats as it took me much longer to get that one then these 2 fusion combined at kowloon 5 wish is a horrible farmign spot and i got examon at the end of cybersleuth where i can lv 1 digimon straight to 50-52 in 1 battle but at least i got him in my field guide now examon is kinda only good if you want a crit build
but yes it is kinda stupid you have to essentially load a digimon for your fusion (while the story characters don't have to deal whit it) but the game warns you before you do it so dont bother lveling the loaded digimon up all the way as far as i tested it doesnt rly change the fusion their stats which i wish it did but sadly it doesnt as examon had pretty poor stats when both breakdramon and slayerdramon where 99 and omnimon zwart whit a lv 1 wargreymon black and a lv 99 metalgarurumon had more stats then the examon or somwhere about the same stats at least but his int penetrating move makes him better then examon.
Right now i have my team of Sistermon Ciel and Blanc, Lucemon with Paildramon in my reserve so i can use the Hack Skill to force encounters and swap him in and out when necessary.
I'm trying to get the lvl 60 digivolution for Ciel and Blanc, but even if i maxed them out they won't have all the stat requirements...
Many evolutions, usually some mega, ultra or special ones such as Lucemon FM, requires you to add bonus points to stats. I recall of being able to just evolve both sistermons into their awakened form by simply leveling them near 99, but this doesn't work always for others, such as Lucemon FM, which imho is one of the worst to attain due to the ridiculous atk and speed requirements the game asks in order to evolve into its FM form.
I got Growlmon in the back along with Gargomon and I plan on turning Ladydevimon into Kyuubimon when I learn all her skills. I might just keep Ladydevimon since her Special Move wrecks digimon. Especially if I use it before or after Lucemon's Grand Cross special move if he didn't kill them already lol.
Since you are going to keep ladydevimon, I treally advice to evolve her into Lilithmon later one, she is one of the most powerful digimons out there, thanks to her signature int-pierce skills.
Btw it's always good to evolve multiple times your digimon, even if you aren't following its "true" evolution tree, as this way not only you increase its ABI and max level, but also obtain many different skills.
It doesn't help that the Field Guide is basically a Pokedex that makes me want to complete it. That's why i've been digivolving the digimon I didn't care for into any and everything. Like right now I have all the In Training except 1 where i have to beat Hacker's Memory just to get it. Same situation for the In Training II and Rookie Digimon. Missing a lot of champions, Ultimates and I only have the 5 NX Digimon for Megas.
To each its own. I'm happy with this choice tbh, at least you can have more option to learn skills and whatnot, without following the ridiculous evolution process dw3 had.
The only thing I'd wish was that evolution worked as in 3, in the sense that you could freely evolve mid battle once unlocked.
