"Short, slender, dark haired and fair skinned" would describe most anime protagonists right there.
According to my friend who is also from Germany, the battlecry for the Halfling Ally turned into "Death to all Halflings" and I just found out recently that in the German dub of Digimon Adventures, they turned Renamon into a dude for some ungodly reason.
And yeah, we had the epic music intact and the topic of death wasn't dodged until at least Tamers(not sure from Frontier onwards; vividly remember it in Adventure tho, pretty sure it still was in Tamers too), tho those were times when television over here wasn't 90% americanized...
